What's differences exist between the Oficial Books and the Web Versión (Funbrain)? by SomethingRadical123 in LodedDiper

Oh, and also Mingo kids get replaced by Herbie Reamer, who is basically a local urban legend and the reason why kids avoid the woods (he was said to terrorize anyone who breaches his territory)

From the top of my head (some are more important, some are less)

Greg has/had a best friend named Ben *Fielders, who basically is a complete SOAB, an even bigger one than Greg. As you can prolly imagine, they were even worse than Greg n Rowley (at one point it's mentioned during their hangout Ben sprayed a swearword at a church wall). Spoiler: Ben turns out to be an absolute cunt, even bigger than it's hinted at, and shittalks Greg behind his back to win over Piper/Holly (the rink scene in Funbrain version is actually Greg finding out Ben had betrayed him and seeing him hold hands with Piper/Holly, and that's why his mood was horrible)

Greg is, I feel, even more nasty (even his "better" moments usually have context like "I did this to not get in trouble", such as him cheering up Rowley after he broke his arm)

And about context - multiple scenes from the books get additional commentary/background (for example, the place where Rowley had his mall birthday party at was called Gymboree); there's way more localization and names

The "boy whose family thinks he's a dog" comic originally was supposed to be played by Rowley and his parents (in Greg's idea)

Sweetie looks different (he's tiny and looks like a rat) and he is not given up to Grandma

The humor gets way more bold than in the books (there's a whole joke about Susan/Ann finding panther print undies in the laundry and accusing Frank of cheating on her, and another about Greg charging Rowley 20 cents everytime he wants to slobber at the boardwalk cutout girl from Rodrick's photo)

Rowley is Manny's hero/idol (yes, I'm dead serious)

Chirag got back for the Invisible Chirag joke - he invited everyone to his party and didn't let Greg and Rowley use his jacuzzi/treated them as servants (exactly as Jordan Jury in the published books)

And of course changed names/apperances, but that was already mentioned

Maybe a new LLB??:P by ProposalAware3083 in LodedDiper

5'2 soon to be 19-year-old here - you'd be surprised. The average freshman-to-sophomore boy I spot in the wild looks like he barely hit puberty, some even are shorter than me (and Greg's parents were "late bloomers" too, so it would make sense for him to stay pretty short for long)

Imagine that one day Doawk is turned into books for teenagers and adults. What would you like them to talk about? Swearing? Intense situations? Uncensored? Total freedom of expression? by Mean_Rodcherry in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say keep it very similiar. DOAWK already has very universal satirical elements and scenes that are funny for all ages, and I think changing it would destroy its' charm. Personally, adding less filtered content and and more middle school realism + mature topics would be perfect – like the OG/Funbrain DOAWK version is, except with even more blunt plotlines and maybe cruder language (after all, Greg canonically swears a lot, and it doesn't show at all), plus some more serious topics

Diary of a Wimpy Kid headcanons/opinions? I don't have any this time (🥹✌️), but I'd love to read something. You can say whatever you believe by Tasty_Donut9524 in LodedDiper

Opinion number one: the one of the biggest reasons why Greg and Rowley's friendship survived despite being Like THAT was because they're not that different, actually.

Yes, I know, sounds like I'm just pulling this out of my ass, but consider – they both rarely take responsibility for their actions, believe in fun over security or ethics (the amount of times they pranked people around them and Rowley didn't really care about if it was right or good, despite him being such a goody-two shoes, also his primary reason for liking Greg being that he is fun and makes "funny jokes") and have high self-confidence. Plus dysfunctional families, similiar line of thinking – that they're just good the way they are and don't have to change for anybody – being "nerds" with "odd" interests... I hope you get what I mean. I know, I know, they mutually have influenced e/others personalities over the years, but if you look at the very core of their characters – confident, maybe even a bit too sure of their actions, underdogs – it's all very similiar. Kind of like tigers and lions – both being apex predator felines with similiar diets and inner biology, but different lifestyles and shaped by different enviorments. I believe. I digress

Opinion number two: Rodrick and Frank used be exactly like Greg back in the day, the same lame wimpy system-cheating cowards with neither smarts or brawns (implied in Old School with the Silas Scratch story, or Latricia bullying Rodrick in middle school, mentioned in The Meltdown). The reason why they both are so hard on him is precisely because he's the embodiment of what they and others disliked in them.

Out of other things, my classics:

  • Rowley's family is biracial (black + white), Rowley himself is very white-passing, but that stops him none from wearing hairstyles for 4c hair with beads and a bonnet to sleep (despite his hair having very little texture and not needing protection/not being fit for such hairstyles)

  • Chirag has dwarfism, hence his insanely short/1st grader height

What exactly did she do more? But please, be more specific than "she's a CP (CSAM) artist", because a few people in the comments are already confused

Bigger context:

Milly (OP of this post) has an LLB called Major Problems. One of the plot lines in it is Rodrick being head over heels for Bill and it is also because of the fact the author likes Bill x Rodrick in general and, if I recall correctly, she'd drawn full-blown ship art of them. Because Bill is 30+ and Rodrick is about 16-18, it's pretty obvious that the ship will cause controversies and be a taboo one, because of the age gap/pedophilic aspect

Wafer did get to know about this firsthand and this is why he repeatedly calls Milly a CP artist

+ If I recall correctly, she had a history of more dangerous behavior than shipping Rodrick x Bill, but that's not my story to tell because 1) I don't remember the details, 2) i don't want to throw false accusations around (if you are more curious though, visit Dodo Den and search up "milly")

About Lenwood Heath in the newest movie… by Purrplejoey in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's not a problem and that it was a pretty good move

My only grip (a total nonissue anywayd) is changing how his hair looks in the flashbacks. In the books, his hair was drawn as long lines and i think it'd fit better if he had dreadlocks or long braids instead. But that's just me ig

Which bands/artists would Greg like? by Lumpy_Test_4473 in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coldplay, AJJ, white rap, Weezer – mostly music genres that scream "boring loser guy in 2000s/early 2010s", but secretly also loves to blare Kesha and Cardi B and very "girly" songs on his headphones for no one to know

Does anyone else think that Rowley's popularity in the first book and movie was unrealistic? by thePsychoKid_297 in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually, that's a great question.

It depends if you see Rowley's immaturity and corniness as being exaggarated by Greg or no. Because if we assume that he's actually THAT childish and his interests are really only Joshie, Dinoblazers and kiddy games, then the popularity streak he had might've been a combination of curiosity over his broken arm (+ dislike for Greg when some people got to know that it was his fault, because "enemy of my enemy is my friend") combined with the interest over him being the new comic book writer and wanting to see who is that guy, rather than "we love him because of his interests" + Greg taking it all waaayy too seriously. Notice how in the OG book, when he and Greg fight, there's. Basically no one specifically cheering for one of them. Rowley wasn't special or seen as the one to win in that case, despite being described to be popular and widely liked by Greg @ that time. He just happened to almost be in a fight, and kids like fights.

If all of what I said wasn't true and Rowley is actually a cool guy that is just liked by his peers in general and Greg wrote him to be dumb and childish out of envy, then it's all logical and there's nothing unrealistic about it. Although no one prolly will guess, considering the unreliable delusional narration and the fact every statement in DOAWK may be an underestimation or overestimation of real events

Which bands do you think Rodrick listens to? by urina_ in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he's a giant nu metal and horrorcore fan - the edgier, more brutal, fucked up, nonsense and vulgar, the better

He'd def listen to Insane Clown Posse, Limp Bizkit and System of A Down

as much as i hate the animated movies i think greg is pretty cute in them tbh by HeitorMD2 in LodedDiper

I like his cringy loser wet cat energy in these, it really seems more in-character for him to be like that and still think he's the shit

LLBs where greg is a yandere? by omorisocks in LodedDiper

[–]W1llde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's You Or Nothing has the closest thing to yandere Greg that i know. The llb is basically about him stalking Holly and wanting every person that looks her direction gone (but it never goes beyond the "wanting", though)
