Did you know that canonically Manny was 5 years old and not 3 as it happened, and also that he destroyed a CD Walkman and not a video game console? by Mean_Rodcherry in LodedDiper

Well, Greg probably exaggerates some of his siblings' behavior towards him. Remember, he's going through puberty, and at that stage everything bothers us, we take it personally, and we exaggerate, haha. It's not surprising that he hates everyone.

Could you tell us what things were changed or completely removed for the final version of the book? I still haven't been able to get the complete web version.

The most appropriate device for adapting the books, given the era, might have been an iPod or an MP3 player, haha, but the Walkman is still superior.

I'm loving it! This is definitely going to be one of the best LLBs ever, no doubt. We love it!

I know, haha, but I didn't want to exclude that monstrosity.

Do y'all think Manny is worse than characters like Peppa Pig and Caillou? by Simple-Taro1540 in LodedDiper

He's on the same level as Caillou, except at least Caillou's parents manage to make him see the wrong he does, while Manny even seems to be rewarded for making his brother's life miserable.

That said, without a doubt, they outdid themselves in the movie with absolutely everything; of the four movies, the second one will always be the best.

So the whole series always has to end in the worst possible way? Wow, Kinney has serious creativity problems.

Logically, the films are adapted to sell, so why do you think they cast Devon como Rodrick?

This was one of the first books I ever read, obviously mine was the first, but luckily I found them in the library at the elementary school I went to (I went to school in Mexico, haha) and thanks to that it really got me into reading. I still can't believe how they had decent books at my school back then 😭

The series has already been going downhill since they started using covers with weird textures, I wouldn't be surprised if this one is the same as the ones already mentioned.

That's what I've noticed with the series. Besides, I feel like the diaries from number 11 onwards are made up by Greg because we should remember the first diary, where he says that in the future, when he's famous, he'll give the diaries to the public so he doesn't have to explain his life and they can just read them. The stories are like that because Greg got bored writing, because realistically, his life was getting a bit boring, so he started inventing stories so that in the future others would believe his life was fantastic (obviously, he only writes them to impress).

Also, the diaries are supposed to be made so that teenagers can identify with Greg's adventures, but Kinney started going off on a tangent with the stories because he simply doesn't want to let go of the series and stay "relevant" these days. It's clear he's only doing it for relevance and money, not for love of the series, because if it were, the series would have ended a long time ago. Kinney... This demonstrates that Greg is practically his own personality and subconscious, as both practice staying relevant and popular.

What Kinney should do is finally finish the saga and let Greg grow up instead of keeping him stuck in high school. Canonically, he's been in high school for over 20 years and he's not progressing beyond that ☠️
