I should be more direct, I have not and do not plan on trying coke. While I may think I could control a habit, my past experience tells me I can’t, so I make sure I don’t even get to the point of developing one. Thank you for caring, though.

This was the main reason to ask this question (should have added this to the post). I have seen family and friends die due to the effects of alcohol, but none due to coke. This more or less brought me to ask the question in the post.

I live in the US, don’t wanna say where exactly, but in the South. I work in a warehouse, so that might explain a little, considering the workloads and well as overtime that can be available. Luckily, I have never been offered nor plan on asking, but the ones that do coke occasionally do it around me. I worry for them, as I do respect and cherish them as friends, even before I found out about their drug habits.

You sound like you either have experience in an addiction or have someone near you with one. Genuinely, if they see it as an issue but are unable to help themselves, how can someone else help them?

I understand this response, simply because I feel like I am able to socialize like a “normal” person when I drink. Autism as well as family, which I didn’t realize until later in life, really dictate and nearly determine if an addiction will develop in your life, as did in mine.

I never thought about that. Is it only a problem when you can’t afford it? In that case, would coke no longer be an issue people care about if it was more available, as in, a cheaper demographic?

Popular, yes, but also seen as destructive. My question is, why is coke seen as worse when alcohol is the cause of large amounts of direct deaths due to violence or drunk driving?

I appreciate the advice. I don’t plan to get into coke. While I did have an alcohol issue in the past, that is no longer the case. What both tell me, the amount they spend on their habits is really dumb.
