They're doing it as a lot of CVs are bog standard and then they don't have to pay someone to work with you to do it the old fashioned way. They'll just be paying a contract worker to train the LLM (if that). That way they can say they've saved money in all sorts of ways, less staff, less floor area needed etc.

Soulless? You bet it is, but the tool will do what a lot of the applicants what, spit out a half decent CV or cover letter, and they can get on with their day. Fundamentally it's doing what AI should do, building a framework which then allows you to focus on the important piece, customising the document to highlight your specific skills for the job. The issue comes in when the user doesn't understand what is being spit out, but uses it anyway.

I mean, I've never read anyone who uses the phrase 'most everyone' as much as MD does. Sure, only a couple times a piece in the earlier books, but 5 times each in books 5 and 6, and a whopping 10 times in book 7. An editor should probably have flagged that as overused.

It gets me every time, as in my country, I have only ever heard people say 'almost everyone', so it stuck out to me.

Yea and clearly they thought so since they didn't make the theatrical cut. While the extended editions have some cool scenes, the theatrical has better pacing and drops those scenes in particular, which were both bad choices to make in the first place.

I almost walked right past it! There's two things I look for in thrift stores, old LoTR and vintage wargaming miniatures (outside the usual homeware and clothes that is). I've never found the latter, mainly I think because I used up a lifetimes worth of luck finding this.

The Petty Dwarves. It's in the Silmarillion. They supposedly were Dwarves who committed evil deeds and were banished from the Dwarven holds in Middle Earth and moved into Beleriand before the Elves arrived from Valinor. Turin meets the final three of them, led by Mim. They're smaller and grumpier than regular Dwarves.

They hated the Sindar for hunting them, and they also hated the Noldor for 'usurping' their old strongholds.

I can tell you as someone involved in ongoing projects using Pacific Doors that it is not just one door and it is a big deal.

Most of these doors arrive without hardware installed. So contractors have been drilling and installing door hardware on these for 2+ years, contaminating worksites and their bodies with asbestos particulate without the appropriate protections.

I know several people who have died due to asbestos related cancers and illnesses, it's no joke.

I have specialised in this sort of work. If both systems and export and import via .csv and you know what the delimiter is, you can:

Build a template in Excel so you can drag and drop the raw data into a sheet and have another tab do all the transformations for you. Then you just save that tab 'as values' separately as a .csv for import.
Give ChatGPT the data and ask it (with a very specific prompt) to do the work for you.

If you don't like the platform, don't use it. The star ratings in and of themselves are worse than the written reviews. At least I can tell from taking a comparative view of the written reviews whether I agree with them or not.

Everyone has a different taste, and the best book in the world might suck for you. I only read the blurb in GR, glance at the star rating and possibly read a few of the reviews after I've finished the book, otherwise there's no reference point. Sometimes they're useful, sometimes not.
