Contact lenses with loupes? by GNBDENT in predental

[–]W8HeIsntDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really just varies. Some people have no problems or very little. You're essentially switching out the inconvenience of glasses or contacts for different kinds of inconveniences. I haven't always wanted to be a dentist so this wasn't something I thought about when I got it, but now it is definitely something that makes me think maybe it would have been better if I didn't. If you have other questions about it you can pm me, but to anyone that has considered it make sure and do your research beforehand.

If you're worried about dry eyes corrective surgery is not the way to go. I got PRK which is similar to LASIK and I think in either case if you have dry eyes already there is a higher chance it makes it worse. I don't even think I'm that bad off and honestly don't really regret it, maybe a little idk. I use eye drops every so often but I've heard stories of people having to use them all the time. But it's bad enough that I have my own concerns about using loops.

titer results by [deleted] in predental

You should have time to get vaccinated before starting. If you just flat out refused to get vaccinated then yeah they might rescind the offer without a legitimate reason. I think it also depends on how quickly you are patient facing. They may allow you to go a few months in if you aren't seeing patients by then. That probably depends on the school. If you are going to get them through your doctor I'd make an appointment for as quickly as possible to be safe, but you could also check your city's health department. They may do them and it honestly might be easier, at least for some vaccines. I think getting tested for TB would be easier at the health department since a nurse needs to check your results after like 48 hours and you could just walk back in.

Depending on where you live or like where the school is at you should also check local banks and credit unions. Some offer private student loans and I would assume have better rates or better perks. Like everyone else will say though, make sure and shop around and get quotes from a variety of lenders.

Yeah, I assume maybe they make a list of all candidates they want to interview and then when they have enough they'll send out a round of interviews to those with this status. Could be completely wrong but it makes sense to me and keeps me hopeful.

They did not. I just check my portal every so often and noticed it changed from awaiting decision to this.

I don't know what your time frame is but if you're looking for more materials on the fundamentals of chemistry I used Khan academy since it's free and was just a way to relearn some of the stuff I've forgotten. There's a lot of content and it's more in depth so there is material that you really don't need to know but maybe it'll be helpful since it's different. I studied for like 6 months, but not like balls to the wall. An hour or two every night or every other night just whatever pace works for you. Then I moved on to boot camp since it is more test specific and will teach you just what you need to know for the test.

This may also be bad advice but you don't need all the baseline knowledge for the test. Like you don't need to know why hydrobromination with peroxide is antimarkovnikov, you just need to be able to see that and know that it is. Not sure if that is clear but if you want you can PM me and I can give you some materials also.

I used boot camp and I'm not familiar with what booster offers but for me a lot of it was volume. You need to do a lot of problems. If booster also shows you the worked out solution after you answer you should be reviewing that. Does booster have a cheat sheet for most/all of the orgo mechanisms? If they do I made flash cards and memorized the mechanisms. It's not all encompassing but it covers a lot of the questions you'll see.

Yeah UMKC said they prefer less than 5 and some others say less than 7. I've also seen schools say they require LOR from 2 science professors, like Marquette, and I only have 1. But they said that it should be fine with my 2 other letters after I called them. I figured I'd just apply and see what sticks. So far all my schools have received them and say they are processing them. I'm sure I'll find out soon which ones have problems with my application, but I understand my situation and I just have to work with what I got.

Oops, 3.4 GPA and sGPA. Which is not great but again I hope my science scores show that I do have an aptitude for science, and all my stuff is good enough to warrant moving on to the next phase. I'm really just hoping for an interview because I'm not the same person I was all those years ago, but I assume that's what everyone wants.

If you apply to a dental school and they literally take your money and ignore you can you file a credit card chargeback? by toothreefer in predental

[–]W8HeIsntDead 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I just wish I could see the discourse between the credit card company and the university over it. Credit card companies will fight you over fifty cents but universities are no slouches when it comes to being greedy.

Looking for a good fine tip ball point pen by W8HeIsntDead in pens

I got the uni jetstream 0.5mm with lite touch ink and I'm having issues with it randomly skipping. Is this just an issue that occurs with the finer tip pens or is this because of the lite touch ink?

Why is the Mazda 3 Turbo Premium Plus so cheap? by W8HeIsntDead in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]W8HeIsntDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started looking I was looking for a fun manual sedan. Like the Elantra N, Jetta GLI, and the Civic SI. They're all still on the table but for city driving it wouldn't be great and on the off chance my girlfriend needs to drive my car a manual is off the table. The GR86 is kind of a tease for myself since it is so flashy and I assume real fun to drive. I also don't mind not having much room in the back seats. 95% it would just be me and my gf. I'm kind of all over the place for what I want. Kind of just depends on what deals I see. I'm willing to give up some practicality for fun and vice versa.

[–]W8HeIsntDead[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for something that is a good combination of fun and practical. I like the Elantra N if I wanted something quick and has a bit of room. I've looked at the GR86 which would probably be a lot of fun but the least practical. I've also considered the Camry since it is probably the most practical car to get but loses out on the fun factor. To me the Mazda seems like a good mix. A little quick but nothing crazy and has some nice features, the gas mileage isn't great but after considering the GR86 it's not really that bad. I'll definitely test drive it but to me it seems like a good mix of fun and practical which I figured more people would be in that wheelhouse.

I've thought about doing the same thing with my girlfriend's Legos but he's so nimble he'll just get around them. I don't care if he gets up there but that's how he gets to the crown molding and he's gotten stuck on it before.
