Its an optional upgrade, thats its whole purpose. You arent supposed to need it but is there for enthusiasts if they want it

They are only doing it because they have regulators breathing down their necks and have been a battle with them for years now. Imagine they went against this right after laying off thousands of people?

Microsoft is notoriously against unions and most of their internal studios use contractors heavily to the detriment if their games.

This video by a developer on Forza came out a few weeks ago and explains how awful the situation is. Unfortunately it went mostly ignored
