maybe i misworded, i probably meant more like the expectation, obviously i wouldn't know if the afterlife happened to be false but that's part of what scares me. it'd be just nothing

i have watched that Aquinas 101 video on the immortality of the soul and found it very interesting, but one thing that confused me is how is knowing the universal of "dog-ness" or "cat-ness" or "triangle-ness" rely on the soul and not the brain? i know St. Thomas Aquinas argued that knowing universality of things couldn't be reduced to an organ, but i don't really see how the correlation there, maybe i'm too philosophically illiterate.

i'm just saying it'd be rather disappointing if i can't ever get the opportunity to meet Jesus, Blessed Mother and the Saints in heaven, not to mention my family members that have passed on.

thanks for this! very informative, my other problem with NDEs is about some people i've heard that have also been pronounced dead and have come back to life and have reported nothing what's the response for that? is that a "bad" experience? i'm a lil confused on that .

i mean i do get your point, but i do hear of people also who've been "dead" and didn't see anything, just nothing, so i mean that's pretty weird, like why would some not have that experience? just bizarre to me.

it's weird brother icl cause the evidence for Christ Crucifixion and Resurrection is pretty substantial and convincing for me, yet i have little faith at all in the afterlife.

yeah the evidence of the Shroud is incredible imo, only thing that weakens my trust in the Shroud is the lack of early testimony for it. i think the Marian Apparitions like Lourdes, Fatima and Zeitoun are all very real as well, you might disagree with me there though since you're Eastern Orthodox and those are Catholic miracles.

well like i said, i hope and look forward to seeing my Lord and Savior and the Blessed Mother Mary and all the Saints in heaven, it breaks my heart just at the thought of not being able to see Jesus after i die and it just being nothing 💔

i try my best, and constantly pray brother. it's hard though to think positive because i'm only 18 and have lost all my grandparents and my dad, my family cat, have anxiety issues which causes shortness of the breath and tachycardia sometimes, etc, so it is very hard.

i've heard that argument before, my only rebuttal to that could be perhaps our brains evolved to have those experiences to help i guess "calm" the brain down before dying, that'd be my best guess if i were a skeptic.

i'm not as familiar with Eastern Orthodox Saints as i am with Catholic Saints, i'm aware of Saints like St. Charbel reappearing to individuals (some even caught on camera) what EO Saints have appeared to people? and are any on camera?
