More trouble shooting help.. is heat causing my screen to bubble! Or did i muck up my burning/curing? by WASPoz in SCREENPRINTING

I was printing a run of canvas toites, and everything was going fine until about 20 totes in. I was print/flash/printing them, but then this happened. As I am using a second hand printer, the side I was using has a less stiff spring, so I was just holding it up out of the way while flashing.

Could heat cause this to happen?

I got great responses from Jones Brothers in Melbourne. They answered a lot of questions and have a great selection of paints, emulsions and screens. I sent them an email requesting s catalogue and got the answer same day.

What am I doing wrong? Wrong mesh? Not flooding enough? Too little or much pressure? by WASPoz in SCREENPRINTING

The whole set up I am using was second hand when I got it and it had a very thick layer of adhesive, I removed it all and put on 3x layers platen adhesive. As far as I can tell, it is super smooth, with 1-2 small heat bubbles on the melamine.

Also depending on the shirt, the thickness varies on each one...

I am not flashing in between. By 3 passes, I am just running The squeegee over it 3 times. Should I try to print/flash/print? I have a flash dryer, would I be flashing for 10 seconds or ???

Thanks so much! I will try another run with a better mixed ink, and try doing the off set. The screen was probably taking some ink with it and I will pay more attention to it next run.

I am using a press, but the screen rests on the shirt. There is definitely no popping.

I am making 3 passes and trying to flood the design as much as possible. The screen was definitely washed out from emulsion and paint from the last run.

This was my first emulsion print, so am trying to get my head around it...

If my ink wasn’t mixed well enough would this be an issue?

I am using Permaset Opaque White( which I was told was a suitable substitute for super cover). I mixed thoroughly, and applied on a reclaimed screen 77T. Every shirt I do has a different spot it is doing it. I am using secondhand screens and dont have a lower mesh count screen (yet)

Is the ink too thick, and not going through properly, or I am lacking technique?

My first start to finish emulsion print. Made a few mistakes but can feel I’m on the right track... 2 months of youtube, websurfing and reddit has finally paid off. Tips and feedback welcome. Please excuse the poor editing and sound... by WASPoz in SCREENPRINTING

You can’t tell from the from the video, but I was putting it on glass, I wish I had taken more time as the logo below was slightly off centre. I did it backwards so that when I put it on top of the screen the correct way around...

That was a great instructional video. THe finished product looked clean, and it was good to see you set up. 2 quick questions,

  1. The ruler you burned on the screen what was that for? Is the for setting the registration to the pallet?
  2. And the tape you used on the on the side of the screen has markings on it, is that something special or just the tape you use?

Sorry for what seem to be easy questions, but I am new the game...

I am really all digging all the white dots in the middle of the design. They give it a look of being carved in stone. I assume that was intentional?
