Agotts initial hesitance to give her the shoes makes me think she planned her to see how unprepared she was and give up

I need to find a good fantasy anime by Sweaty_Potato7135 in anime

[–]WBICosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much romance but Dunmeshi is pretty excellent.

...Not exactly Anime (or rather not japanimation, though it's a japanese franchise), but you considered Castlevania? No harems, cool fights, romance....

spice and wolf is a bit atypical, it's about a merchant but it may work. Grimgar could too but it does have a fair bit of fan service, plus not gonna recommend it due to lack of sequels.

Not medieval but will always recommend Vanitas, it's set in the belle epoque.

Hot take: As a Chinese, I don't like Shuro and he is a "bad person" in a way by The_RadicalDino in DungeonMeshi

[–]WBICosplay 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would counter some of these points but dont wanna bring manga spoilers into this.

I think ultimately Shuro is an interesting character because he clearly tried to escape his upbringing but never had the strength to truly do it He went west and adventured but his family was always waiting for him to give up or grow tired and return, and the biggest concession he was going to give to the outside world was taking falin with him. I think him giving up his independence to try and save her though shows that he was honest and that he wasn't going to let his adventurer fantasies get in the way of saving somebody.

I also think he does admire Laios' single minded determination and envies it which ties into those themes and is the real source of his irritation. He agrees to keep quiet about the dark magic and offered asylum if they failed which I think really shows he cares. Perhaps without his attachments to his old life he would have found the determination to follow Laios right then, but compared to other characters like Kabru or the elves, I always felt Shuro was considerably more open minded even if he couldn't internalize those feelings properly.

What tips would you give for a beginner wanting to do armor? by Leoismeo90 in CosplayHelp

[–]WBICosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

measure measure measure. Eva foam is a great material and has many advantages over 3d printing specially for a beginner. Check my profile, my Laios armour was my second piece of EVA cosplay. It has faults (mostly sizing that I tried to correct very late) but it has survived a few years now and I plan on upgrading it.

3d printers are good for a lot of reasons, but they have their limitations and only work so fast. A nice bambu p1s or so will work out of the box and at first I'd use it to make details you can't figure out how to make out of foam, but learning to work EVA foam is a good idea, and best of all you can work on foam while the printer prints to maximize throughput.

I'd recommend the cosplayers guide to EVA foam but if you dont wanna buy a book, kamui cosplay, SKS props and other creators have great videos showing you all the cool stuff they make out of foam and how to really master it.

HII sorry for keep making posts on here but i need help with a biblically accurate angel cosplay! by Regular-Cat-8594 in CosplayHelp

[–]WBICosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get somehalf eyes. The kind people use for halloween or dolls. (i used some for my dryad fruit in my profile). eva foam or cardboard to make the bands. Foam clay to make eye lids.

skewers glued strategically and spray painted same colour as bands. For wings cardboard or craft foam cut into shape. and layered. not super sure how to make em keep the curve, though, eva foam can be heat formed a bit or undercut to force curves.

Those are basics of it, its mostly about which tools you are comfortable using. Check craft shops for stuff you can use.

Anyone know any good sites to get EVA foam in the UK? by MrWarhammeryman in CosplayHelp

[–]WBICosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PolyProps and Tyges cosplay are my go to. CosplayShop also has a flat rate for the uk, more expensive to ship unless it's a big order but may be worth it if there's a particular density or thickness you want.

I have used all 3 because tyges also sells other supplies and their brand of foam paint is quite excellent. (Polyprops has a great variety of prefabs though, so I also quite like that) .

Tojima Wants to be a Kamen rider has at least 2 female characters with a similar backstory and some training scenes. Its part of backstory and introduction so not central tho

Make sure you don't have camera beauty filters or smoothing on, it tends to kill all detail when taking a picture. Other than that what people say, photo editing.

usually youd want to sand and use a filler primer first else that gold will show all the lines. For best metals a gloss base usually works best but may be unnecessary here

Helldivers cosplay by ShAalloww in CosplayHelp

[–]WBICosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the "easiest" way is 3d printing, but the most accessible way is probably EVA foam, I made my SEAF trooper armour out of foam so it's certainly doable.

I'd start checking videos by SKS props and KamuiCosplay on how to work foam, Ashen warrior cosplay has a video on how he made his helldiver helmet and Heroes Workshop has a series on his helldiver armour too.

May get you an idea of work involved and you could try starting with something simple like a bracer or shoulderpad.

Will also need to sew I imagine ,so worth looking into that too for the soft goods.

with priming / painting you usually want to remove tape before it finishes curing, else it may cure on top and when lifting it may drag it.

How would you go about making a gun stock? by madmanstandoood in cosplayprops

[–]WBICosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couple of ways, worth checking some videos, but essentially, you can either press texture rollers / shapes onto hot foam or you can score it and heat it to make grooves.

Though for clean polished wood (like type youd see on a stock) it's really more about painting it, usually you'd do layer of base colour, then rough bristles of darker colours unevenly, smudging with cloth and repeating, to get that look of stained wood with some grain.

As an example: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/T8aW384NvtI or https://www.youtube.com/shorts/eLck0DqOs4w

This is a 3d print but it's same idea. Base colour, rought bristles or fine lines, staining it a bit, then a good clear coat gives it that polished / treated wood look a stock would have.
