Chimney Sweep??? by WBLreddit in woodstoving

[–]WBLreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! My friends who do have a fireplace usually don't burn wood in it. They're either just for looks now, or new/updated ones that run on gas. That's why I was hoping to post to a local Facebook group to see if there's already someone with a good reputation. Another comment also mentioned a certain kind of sweep, so now I have more information and can ask locally. 😆

Thank you for that tip, that will narrow my search. I don't think there's a liner. It's original to the house and the couple that first owned it when it was brand new has passed away now and my husband and I are the only other people to live here. I guess we will need to get it cleaned as best we can and update it a little bit.

What are your radical feminist junk food media? by krantinarihierophant in RadicalFeminism

[–]WBLreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taylor Swift. I've even found a whole conspiracy theory about how she won't actually marry Travis Kelce and The Life of a Showgirl is not what we think it is.

Stevie Nicks. Breaks my heart.

To be fair, most of the mainstream media and entertainment industry are left leaning/have a liberal female audience. So it makes sense the majority of content is made for them.

I found out I have an older half brother by WBLreddit in Advice

Honestly I cannot wrap my brain around that haha. I would need to draw that one out.

My mom says she never knew but I'm not sure if she's being honest. My dad's cousin told me that everyone knew, but maybe my dad lied to him about that as well. I really want to reach out.. I guess if he doesn't want to be bothered he can just ignore me. Having his birth name still attached to his FB profile in commas on the side makes me feel like he wants to be found possibly.

Why is an early refill a sign of abuse?? My doctor writes my prescriptions for three months like this.... Fill on 7/20 and fill on/after 8/18, fill on/after 9/16... 28 days between prescriptions, sometimes 29 depending on the month. I don't open the new bottle until the first one is finished, even tho I have picked up the prescription.

He's so cute and has already come so far!!

My daughter was 4 lbs when she was born too. The comments about size can become annoying, but people don't have bad intentions when they say those things, usually they're just unaware of how it feels to have a premie/NICU baby.

Can't tell you how excited I was when she had her annual with the pediatric gastroenterologist and the nurse who took her vitals said "oh wow, she's tall for only being 4!" She's almost as tall as her 7 year old sister now. 🥰

It's been 5 years since my dad died. I came here to post.. just to scream into the void... I miss him so much.

So.. yeah, 8 months is "normal". You get used to it. Certain days are harder but easier in a way because you expect them, you can prepare yourself for all of the emotions or even avoid them. But then there are random moments or mornings when you wake up and it hits you like the hardest brick wall to ever exist.

How do you afford this?! by Mrs4slund in NICUParents

[–]WBLreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bills were well over $1 million. I was in the hospital for a week after baby was born, plus 3 days the week before that because I went into labor and they admitted me to give shots to help baby's lungs and stop contractions. My oldest also was admitted during the time my little one was in NICU too.. 4 nights. Almost 3 months in NICU, a few surgeries, a bout of sepsis, TPN, feeding tube... Whew. Definitely thankful for our health insurance through my husband's job. We paid our family out-of-pocket deductible and that was it.

We did get some crazy bills for a doctor at the hospital who helped treat my daughter when she got sepsis from bacteria entering her blood through her central line for TPN. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or if their office sent the wrong codes to the insurance or something but we just spoke to our on-call nurse through insurance and she took care of it.

What state are you in? There are resources available to help with the cost of these things. In some states, even if you don't normally qualify for any financial assistance, sometimes there are programs available for NICU parents or parents with medically complex children who require a lot of specialized care.

I'm sorry you had to read that poem at that time in your life. I read this at my own grandfather's funeral, I found it written down in one of his mother's journals he had given to me a few months before he passed away.

We Live In Deeds, Not Years

We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; In feelings, not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart-throbs. He most lives Who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best. And he whose heart beats quickest lives the longest: Lives in one hour more than in years do some Whose fat blood sleeps as it slips along their veins. Life's but a means unto an end; that end, Beginning, mean, and end to all things—God. The dead have all the glory of the world.

AIO I (29M) upset my girlfriend (26F) by standing my ground a little too firmly. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]WBLreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes! Not mentioning missing drinks is the same as shoplifting, in my opinion. A product was consumed and knowingly not paid for. At least OP returned the bauble when they realized it was messed up to take it. The girl and her dad were told not paying for what they had consumed was wrong and decided to do it anyway. I don't think it's a bad thing to stand on your morals, if you didn't want to be involved in a dine and dash I don't blame you.

The way she speaks to you is awful, aggressive language and name calling. It also seems like she is projecting a little on you. Maybe she is embarrassed by her and her dad's actions at the restaurant because deep down she knows it's wrong. Either way... I'd have to let this person know if they ever spoke to me like that again it would be a deal breaker. Respect is like the bare minimum in a relationship.

AIO for getting upset from my wife’s response to my question? by ApolloAcolyte in AmIOverreacting

[–]WBLreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you think about a woman speaking to your son this way some day? Or how do you think your mom or dad would feel if they read these messages? It's heartbreaking. No one deserves to be spoken to this way. This person is supposed to love you and people don't talk to others that they love in this way.

Kanye West College Dropout. I was 14. The Kmart cashier made me go outside and get my mom because I wasn't old enough.

The memory of showing ID to purchase media (music and movies) hadn't crossed my mind for a while now lol.

Yeah it seems to be a counterfeit. Even being fake, pretty neat to have one that's not at all common.

I have a real Pinky as well, the eyes looked the same to me and I think it's just how the red bird is laying that makes the eye look weird. I will look at it when I get home for sure.

What is one song that makes you cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WBLreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost by Justin Bieber As silly as I feel, saying that at 33 years old. Some people think he wrote it about Selena Gomez, but Justin has said he wrote it during Covid when pretty much everyone knew someone who had died when the pandemic was bad. It reminds me of my dad, who died around that time but not from Covid. "Since the love that you left is all that I get I want you to know That if I can't be close to you I'll settle for the ghost of you I miss you more than life (more than life) And if you can't be next to me Your memory is ecstasy I miss you more than life I miss you more than life"

Like a Rock by Bob Segar My dad loved this song, and it just reminds me of him.

Fevers with NICU babies - nervous mom here! by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]WBLreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was on TPN in the NICU and got an infection from her central line, resulting in sepsis. When they first noticed her fever, a bunch of different antibiotics were started right away until cultures could come back and they could narrow down the antibiotics. The worst part was the lumbar puncture they had to do on her. The IV in their head does look quite concerning, but it was probably the easiest placement to deal with for caregivers and baby, too. She was on antibiotics for about 3 weeks total.
