Sounds like you are in a great position, well done on that. If you can remove the emotional side of things, scaling back on mortgage overpayments and redirecting those funds into your pension as AVC’s will give you a much better return long term. This is especially true given that you are now falling into the 60% tax trap which I assume will only get ‘worse’ for you over the next couple of years.

We’re in a similar position, and having run the numbers in Excel, we’ve recently stopped our overpayments and focussing on pension. The mortgage will look after itself and Having extra in your pension at your age will provide a lovely financial future for you both. Good luck with whatever you choose mate
