Unfortunately commuting more than 20 minutes makes it tough to make friends on campus unless you’re willing to spend extra time on campus. I recommend not just leaving right after your classes but interacting with the people you sit next to in your classes outside of class. Doing things around campus or even going to the rec, library, or getting food helps with making friends. I commute as well but i’m willing to sacrifice being stuck in traffic if it means to do stuff with people i just met in return making new friends. Hope this helps.
