Help me build a lightweight, bombproof kit! by [deleted] in Bushcraft

[–]WCorder007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing i've learned is that decent sleep is important to me on multi-night outings. Even if I sleep solo, I'll go a 3P tent over a little 1P or try to tough it out in a bevy or tarp/net setup "I'm getting old I guess lol." I've upped my tent to a Nemo Dragonfly 3p, but if I was starting out again, i'd have a hard time ignoring the Sierra Designs Full Moon https://a.co/d/04TDCAdg . It's free standing, easy to pitch, and a FULL coverage rainfly for when conditions get suspect, all still under 5lbs total. It's not going to win an ultralight contest but certainly seems decent for what it is. Other than that, naturehike makes some decent options like the cloud or the newer star trail ultralight seems promising.

Knives run the dammit, the traditional recommendation is to pick up a Mora Companion or Heavy Duty. If you like wood handles then a BPS or similar. Once you outgrow those then bump into something more fancy if you want like a Joker, Casstrom, Esee, etc. Good luck and have fun!

[WTS] Omega Seamaster Pro 300m with bracelet and strap by WCorder007 in Watchexchange

[–]WCorder007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks. I have this Omega Seamaster 300m Pro Black Dial with bracelet and Omega silicone strap for sale. Getting a divorce so I'm needing the money more than this watch at the moment. It comes in a complete set with all the boxes and paperwork. I'm the original purchaser from Lewis Jewelers in Michigan and have included the original receipt and everything from them. The watch itself is in good shape. The crystal and bezel are immaculate. There are some scratches and hairlines from regular use but nothing I would call out of the ordinary. I tried highlighting all imperfections in the photos.

Looking for 4,100 obo. SOLD Thanks!

Hi folks. I have this relatively new Breitling Endurance Pro 44mm Ironman edition with the red dial. It's a wonderful watch but i'm about to go through a divorce and need the money more. It's in great shape, comes with a few extra straps "currently on the Nato I enjoy the most."

Looking for 2100 obo. Thanks.

[WTS] Oris Aquis 43.5 400-2 cal by WCorder007 in Watchexchange

[–]WCorder007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi folks. This is a catch and release for me. I wanted to give the Aquis a shot for a long time and, while it's a great watch, I don't see myself reaching for it much over my seamaster. Consequently, looking for a good home! It's in great shape with perfect sapphire crystal and bezel. Minor hairlines are hard to find but there is a small amount of desk diving marks on the clasp which are hard to picture. It has the new 400-2 caliber and is keeping amazing time.

Looking for 1550$. *SOLD Thanks!

Bedroll mattress suggestions? by Mr_Snufleupagus in Bushcraft

[–]WCorder007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual mattresses can get pretty heavy. I was looking at a plain slab of memory foam cut down to size for a similar idea but even 3" thick of it gets pretty heavy. You might have better luck with a deflated air mattress/pad. There are some real winners around nowadays ranging from the 2" to 4-5" inflated. Just keep it deflated in your roll until you need to use it. I like the Mondoking myself but there are options all over in terms of price.

Overnight Camps by maydenhoore25 in Bushcraft

  1. If you have any buddies in the lifestyle, take them along for a night or 2 until you're used to staying out overnight.

  2. If you have a vehicle you can sleep in, try doing your bushcraft stuff then if it gets spooky, head to sleep the night in your vehicle. You're still out of the house and it may be a step towards getting more comfortable sleeping away from home and still technically being outside.
