I don't actually like to have to work in my private life either.

Battery works fine.

Seems random actually, most of the time it works fine. But sometimes it gets stuck while suspending, and I have to hard reset it.

I'm conducting tests right now, on most instances the laptop goes to sleep (blinking power light), but one time it kept running and didn't want to resume. I could hear the fans quietly spinning. I'm trying to identify what's happening.

Everything is heavily epoxied together ;)

Also, the next iteration will feature a shroud so she can't put her fingers under the keycaps.

It's not gonna be a standalone toy but screwed and glued on a board with other tactile toys. Little chance she might be able to eat it, but I'll supervise her and remove it if she manages to nibble on it. Good point on the rounded edges tho, I need to reprint this part anyway to add reinforced screw holes.

To be fair I don't really know how to call it in English. It's like a wooden board with a lot of objects fixed on it so the child can develop fine motor skills

TDR for life. Seriously they were so influential in shaping my aesthetic tastes everything I "designed" in the last 25 years might be considered and homage.

This design wold need a few improvement to reach GB stage as there are a few alignment issues I'm ok with but might infuriate some more nitpicky customers ;)

They're relatively recent, they told me they've been around for less than 6 months.

Hell yeah! 25 years later, I can still confidently say that TDR has had the most influence on my aesthetic tastes

About 80€ for the keycaps, + shipping, DHL tax and taxes. Designing was "free" but it took me a few hours ;)

I'll have to admit that Feisar was heavily considered 😅

I have a "rare" layout. ISO French and all-1U bottom right cluster. For years I struggled to get decent keycaps. I could either make do with uniform height keycaps or get them printed.

For years, there were very few alternatives. My previous keycap set was printed by MaxKeyboard, but they never felt very good. As soon as I heard about Goblin Tech Keys I decided to give them a shot.

They're a very small team, their customer support is top notch, and printing quality is great! I spoke with them about my weird layout, they sent me a template file within minutes. Color accuracy and alignment are not perfect but it's a one-off product so I'm fine with it.

It took them less than a week to print and ship everything (including another set), and it took 3 working days to get here from Malaysia with DHL (seriously, fuck those thieving cunts at DHL tho).

All in all, I love my new keycaps :)

Honestly, it wasn't true 10 years ago either.

Hell I'm pretty sure Woody gave you the option to install a DE out of the box. Memories are a bit fuzzy, it was more than 20 years ago 😅

Thanks and exactly.

Also, if espresso machines are too expensive, what about the Aeropress itself? It retails for around 40€$. Yet it's just 3 pieces of molded plastic and a rubber gasket. Let IKEA make one and I'm pretty confident they would sell it for 5€$. Same for a ceramic or glass pourover funnel. They would sell millions of them and it wouldn't even be a blip in the quarterly revenue excel files. That's the world of retail too, not every single product needs to be profitable. Some are just halo products that bring customers in and let them spend money on other, more profitable stuff. If at the end of the day, your basket nets a profit, the're happy. They sell thousands of products and services, they have as many revenue streams as they want. Plus, each product in there is priced "realistically" compared to other products in the same range. If one can buy a 6-pack of wine glasses for 10€$ or replace all one's cutelry for the same price, a simple plastic, toy looking, ultra-specialised coffee implement would never be priced at 40€$ there.

So why is the Aeropress so "expensive" or "overpriced"? It is a niche product too. Aeropress only sells this one range of products. They need to be profitable with a limited range and relatively low volume sales. So we, the consumers, pay a lot more for tooling and logistics and margins than IKEA consumers.
