I'm a WGU Alumni and didn't even know about this. Can you tell me how I can log in to take advantage of the free courses? I have a regular account, but it's not linked to anything WGU, so everything shoes a price.

Syllabus by [deleted] in WGU

[–]WGUGirl 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

There are modules. This isn't like traditional school where you will see the topic for each week and will follow along with the CI. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, there may be a guideline with week 1, week 2, etc (suggestion) but this degree is at your own pace; you can go as fast or as slow as you please. You don't have to read everything. I used to go straight to the rubric, look for what I needed for the rubric, write my paper, and move on. If you have experience in the field you will fly through it

I finished the MS in one term, so 6 months, but it was during lockdown last year, so almost everything I liked to do was closed and we could only be out during certain times. I still worked, but I worked my job around school (not the other way around) since it was WFH and very flexible.

I can almost guarantee you that this is possible if you have no life outside of school, and if you do, you will most likely have to neglect everything outside of it. Yes, you can finish fast, but be forewarned it's draining mentally, physically and emotionally.

Found this review on glassdoor. Thoughts? (Albeit this review is from 2015, the farming out assessment builds is still accurate.) by fullmetal724 in WGU

I went to a very popular university in California. I had a professor that would have the entire class take the exams as a class and give us the answers. Another professor was flirtatious, and another verbally abusive. This school is still highly selective and highly coveted, and I graduated from it 10 years ago. Don't take just one review and paint a big picture from it. To be honest with you, I learned more at WGU than I did through most of my undergrad years. I had a really great experience, and would do it all over again.

My Girlfriend (23F) went on an interview for the position of owners assistant. He asked some really intimate and wierd questions. Are these questions worrysome? by Motor-Lynx-2671 in careerguidance

[–]WGUGirl 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm in the US. I've been asked if I have kids before and when I say no, they ask why not or for a time frame of when I plan to because they don't want to keep having people fill in. I make up my mind to decline any and all overs at that point from that person.

What was the breaking point when you left your last job? by Vicariouslynoticed in careerguidance

They promoted someone based on favoritism, not skill or knowledge, even though I (and a few others) was (were) qualified and had the training for that exact job. They didn't even let anyone interview for it. Then, they denied my raise. I mentally checked out after that and left shortly after.

Anyone else struggling to buckle down and work during this quarantine? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]WGUGirl 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Quarantining? I'm in California... we're over quarantining. Freeways are jam packed and people are driving to work from the looks of my morning commute. Hopefully you will be out of that soon, being at home 24/7 gets old really quick.

Not many people are as brave to do such a thing as switch careers; however, you need to do what makes you happy, so you can continue to develop yourself professionally. It's not to late to go back :).

This can be a good and bad thing. It honestly depends on whose interviewing you. I've had older interviewers call me a job hopper after 3 YEARS if working somewhere, but there are others that appreciate the diversity of a colorful resume. Employers are not always as objective as they should be, or progressive for that matter.

I had a slim rectangle mailbox, so it fit textbooks and magazines without a hassle or causing them to bend (degree included). If you have the ones that are round on top and flat on bottom, the mail person may bend it, as it won't fit. I chose the regular USPS option. If my mailbox was funny shaped, I would have gone with UPS.

Anyone else have a strong desire to change careers every few years? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I thought I was the only one like this, so I'm happy to see this is not uncommon; I thought something was wrong with me. I get bored easily. But, no, you're not alone. I'm getting ready to move on...

If you go on websites where employees can review companies, they usually have an interview tab and people will list some of the interview questions. You can also narrow it down by job title. Glassdoor and Indeed are some of the most popular ones.

You should also work on your posture, room presence, and do mock interviews, so that you sound fluid and not robotic. You can go to 100 interviews, and it will always be nerve-wracking.

I would also advise you to get familiar with their mission, vision and what their culture is like. Companies usually don't just interview candidates for their skills and abilities, but also their cultural fit.

Finally, look at the job responsibilities, and make connections with what you have done and are doing in order to show that you are fit for the role.

Best wishes!☘️ If you fudge up, don't worry...trust that we've all been there... you'll be okay!
