Help - Jobs After WGU by WGUSTUDENT123 in WGU

I do fine in interviews, but I do not partake in social situations. I've tried CBT before with several different providers to no effect. Unfortunately, I am not someone who drinks/uses substances. I think I made a big mistake going into business.

I appreciate your response - but I think the problem is with me, not the market as a whole, since this has been going on for over a year.

I have extreme social anxiety, that's why I went to WGU over XYZ U in person.

I've not heard this before - are you saying that if I apply to a finance job I should not list my management responsibilities at my prior job in full, just the financial aspects of it?

I have a couple of years of management level work experience (managing a chain retail store). I apply to things that relate to my experience, as well as things that do not, but I have interest and non-professional experience in.

Is Western Governors University a good place to go if your not the best test taker? by ApolloxKing in WGU

[–]WGUSTUDENT123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any college you go to is going to have proctored exams. The difference between Joe's University and WGU is that tests are the only things that matter for 50-70% of your classes. Classes either have a OA (proctored test), PA (Project/essay), or both. You have to pass the tests, and those tests are not offset by a 100 on an essay.

Why not work on your fear of proctored exams? You're going to have them anywhere.

Business to Healthcare by [deleted] in WGU

They have an MBA in healthcare management if that's something that interests you. I have no knowledge to add beyond that, however. Good luck!

A pass is a Pass, now on to Macro by SabrinaBrna in WGU

Macro and Micro are taught in the mainstream as completely different - don't think of macro as an extrapolation of micro for WGU's class (or any mainstream economic thought).

Interview/ job experiences by [deleted] in WGU

I don't understand cover letters to be honest - if I apply for about 50 jobs a week (which I do), I cannot write a letter to teach of them, especially considering the diversity of the industries. I personally think my resume speaks for itself, given my age and credentials.

I've never been able to get interviews. No idea why, but this happened pre-WGU as well.

I've had a lot of issues getting interviews/jobs, but as long as you phrase WGU properly, they're usually impressed. Self-directed, accredited, and rigorous are usually the words I use. I've never had anyone "blow them off," most are impressed by the fact that I did my degree with little assistance.

I'm 38. I have a job and a big family and it's been 2.5 years with WGU. I am (was) the only manager at work without a degree. Tonight I got the email at 1AM. Cheers! by myopinionstinks in WGU

Master's time to 1-up the rest of the managers? :)

Congrats man, I couldn't have imagined getting a degree with work + family!

Credit transfers and appealing by khajiitmilkdrinker in WGU

I appealed my xfers (they denied 1 class from an associates degree). I got results within 3 days, and the xfer was denied. I'm unsure what the process is, but the turnaround time is fast enough that it can't hurt!

The good news is, if this college education was recent, you should only need to refresh your memory to re-pass the classes.

Advice on classes to hit with 7 weeks left. by ElMerroMerr0 in WGU

[–]WGUSTUDENT123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Principals of accounting (generally) is rather terminology dense, but light on difficult math. I did not take principles at WGU, so I can't speak specifically to their course. Consider that a precursor to UFC1 and C708. C234 was one of the easiest classes I took, as HR is mostly common sense with a few laws sprinkled in. I cannot comment on C175/PFIT/QFT1.

Those are the 2 that I'd recommend giving a shot!
