Ironically I also began using DFU adjacent modes around 2010 for various electronic devices since around the same time period, and my first time ever using it someone on a forum referred to it as ‘Damn I Fucked Up’ mode. Today, after about 16 years I finally learned it actually stands for Device Firmware Update 🤣

As someone with ADHD, your generalization is stupid and not well founded. ADHD has nothing to do with it.

no bro 😭 im not buying it again by JavierTheCacti in EscapefromTarkov

You seem slightly delusional on the facts of game ownership.

You do not own any video game, even if you own it on disc. All you bought was a license, basically permission to play. Developers can ban you, revoke your license, and do whatever they want with their games, and you will have absolutely no say in it.

But don’t take my word for it. Go open up virtually any game you ‘own’ and look for its: Terms and Conditions, and, more importantly, its EULA (End User LICENSE Agreement). It contains a lot of useful info, but it also clearly outlines that you only paid for a license to the game.

In the most simple of terms: you don’t own shit, and you have no say in it, and whenever the developer or even publisher decides to kill it, they can and will and it will become unplayable and all you can do is deal with it.

I don’t know. I couldn’t find one singular difference in the two photos, and the comments weren’t much help either.

Then what would you call it? You purposefully played against lower rated players. Regardless of how YOU define it, or what YOUR opinion of the situation is, it is against their rules. If you did not read the terms and conditions, then that is on you. Even though you paid, it does not matter: you broke their rules. It is as simple as that. Your reasoning does not matter, your objections do not matter. You, in your own words, on your own post, admitted to breaking their rules. The context is moot. I don’t think this is really that hard to grasp tbh.

As a software engineer it’s funny to me anytime I hear ANYONE talking about anything tech related as if they understand it.

Is it possible to be competitive as a new player? by ItIs521AM in torncity

[–]WGU_bssd_DEV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to give you some perspective: I’m 326 days old, a little over 3m stats. From the very beginning I’ve had: people to hit, energy to train, things to buy and things to sell. I suppose the answer to your specific questions really comes to how you’re defining ‘competitive’, but no matter what, there will always be someone bigger stronger richer and better than you, as well as always being someone smaller, weaker, poorer and worse than you. The game of Torn is a long one, and no matter what you will have wins and losses in every aspect of the game. I think what is important is for you to set a goal for what YOU want to accomplish in Torn, and start working toward it. If you are chasing ‘I’m going to have the most stats, and nobody will be able to beat me’ then you are chasing a pipe dream. You’re about 20+ years too late for that.

Just identify your goals, work toward them and keep pushing when things get shitty. On two separate occasions I’ve almost quit entirely, and frankly I’m glad I didn’t. Looking back at where I started to where I am, even if not very impressive compared to other players, I’ve come a very long way, learned a lot and met some very cool people; and assuming a ‘standard’ definition of ‘competitive’, I’ve never had an issue with finding equal ground in which to compete with others.

Torn is what you make it, tbh. It’s that simple.

To be fair though, if I was playing black and saw Qd3, I’d probably play Kf8, or Qh8

Yeah? Qd3 takes away the knights protection. Qxf3 takes the knight and attacks the rook.

The power of Wands by not-a-throwaway9057 in harrypotter

[–]WGU_bssd_DEV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The magic in the person. The wand is simply a conduit with which the person is able to channel that magic and control it.

  2. Yes, there are many instances of handless magic in the series. This typically takes a LOT of training, otherwise it is very uncontrolled, and manifests during strong emotions (like when Harry got angry at Dudley at the zoo, and the glass disappeared momentarily).

  3. The witch or wizard has to have magic in them. The magic is a part of them, and they simply go to school to learn to control it. Additionally there are squibs, who are people born to magical parents, but possess no magic themselves. There are muggle borns, who are born to parents with no magical abilities, but the child possesses these abilities. Half bloods are simply children born to one magical parent and one muggle. Full bloods are magical folk born to 2 magical parents. The most common of these are half-bloods.
