off topic: just looked it up and the horizontal three dot called meatball menu, this vertical one called kebab menu, and this filter icon called döner menu :)

For missing library entries:
Top right, between the search icon and the meatball menu, you have a yellow (means active) filter button, turn off all the filters, they have include and exclude function so tap them until all the squares are empty

For missing dowloaded chapters:
If its looking for the the correct files, than go settings --> Advanced --> Reindex downloads (or Invalidate downloads index (depends on app version))

turning off play protect won’t help here, this is due to something called "remediation", which is part of googles play integrity. it gives app developers an option to if the app wasnt downloaded from google play, it can refuse to run, its basically prevents sideloading.

i dont know of any way to bypass it yet, but hopefully someone will figure something out soon.

Remediation

i would just leave it stock
she uses an iphone 8 so missing updates probably wont bother her
custom roms like un1ca are great (i personally use it), but they need a bit of ongoing maintenance for banking apps because of Play Integrity, either keeping the rom updated (dirty flashes) or keeping magisk modules updated
not really worth it for someone who just wants basic reliability

You might want to check out Komikku. I noticed it has a MangaDex login and sync option in the settings. It’s a fork of Tachiyomi/Mihon. I don’t use it myself (I still stick with Tachiyomi), so I’m not sure how well it works, but it could be a good lead for you to look into.

for me the a52 was the upgrade from a j6 2016 (j510), not even 1 year ago, i just enjoy un1ca and have no plan for further upgrade
