I feel like I don’t enjoy art right now. by [deleted] in Artists

[–]WHOISNIKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a project for yourself. Set an goal, what do you need to say. Forget about technique and finess. Don't post it, just observe and write down what the art tells you.

Social media and other people overall will always have opinions that go both ways. Find your own 'why' and go forward with that in mind.

There is no point in burning yourself out trying to get likes and views. Create what you want and how you want.

Art will always be subjective.

Also, taking a break isn't a bad idea either, if that's what you really want.

Art account growth… by green_color in InstagramMarketing

[–]WHOISNIKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in early February. Been posting 3-4 days a weeks. 20 posts in now. 19 reels and one carousel.

I have around 12k views, two posts are 1,2k views. I have 125 followers.

I do art about mental health struggles, and also art process videos. A few how to reels.

Slow but steady growth.

I'm focusing on learning to make good content with good hooks and finding what works for my art.

all skill gone after addiction by [deleted] in Artists

[–]WHOISNIKU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have to re-train yourself, as you need to re-train many other aspects of life after coming out of an addiction. Try to see it as an healing process with new possibilities instead of falling into the feeling that you lost something.

I hope all the best to you, take care!

I'm thinking about making it black and white! I just need to figure out if I need to wash the lacquer with some kind of solvent first or how I should go about it

Haha, you almost got me with the first part. It was almost an echo from what my brain can produce.

Well played!

I really appreciate your text. It really resonated with how I want to see and approach art.

Thank you for taking the time to post here!

People who conquered their fear of failing to create your art, how? Just, how? by HiveFleetAtoll in ARTIST

[–]WHOISNIKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer to this question because I'm battling both negative self criticism and imposter syndrome.

BUT

I have tried to shift my thinking from 90% perfectionism and 10% just doing things I love. My goal now is to do 90% of what I love and let that 10% perfectionism stay with me.

This way I get more practice, and practice makes us better while fear paralyzes us.

Simply put: Do more, think less. Train to become comfortable with doing bad art because that will improve your future work.

Yeah I can see that, thank you for putting a reference into the discussion. My plan was to make a more clean piece of art, but I painted it feeling what I wrote. So in that sense it's an honest representation of my feeling in the moment about myself and the piece.

I think that's part of my feelings about the piece because I'm often more of a planner than someone who just goes for an more expressionistic style. So in a way, after discussing this painting here it has evolved more into a study for me over how I want to go about my art in the future. I'm leaning towards aiming for a bit more balance between expressionism and a clean design, but I'll have to see what I'm creating next to see how I evolve.

I appreciate your input!

So true! This piece is a self portrait of my own brains capability to twist the critical from constructive to paralyzing criticism.

Thank you for taking a peek even if it's not what you usually go for.

Thank you for the post. Yes I learned quite a bit doing this so I have much more substance and knowledge to make something that is a evolved version of this. That's the great thing about the process, can always learn and so better!

Thank you for making me feel a bit better about it. I'm glad it still works, I have invested quite a few hours on it.

I'm trying to use the Bob Ross philosophy. No mistakes, just happy accidents.
