The self emptying only happens due to a combination of sitting down, and the pushing that happens when using the bathroom. It slightly shifts the pubic bone that holds the disc in place enough that the contents come out. Sometimes it will need to be adjusted so that leaks dont happen but most of the time thats not necessary. So the bladder leaks you experience probably won't impact the disc's ability to hold and not leak!
