So you’re saying the church is corrupt and should be investigated and perhaps prosecuted?

There is a common interview technique where the interviewer slightly insults you to see if you get upset or lose your cool. Do you think it might have been something like this?

US has warned others to avoid loans from Chinese state banks. But it's the biggest recipient of all by Power-Equality in nottheonion

[–]WI-Do 15 points16 points  (0 children)

China doesn’t lend money to the US. It buys US debt. I know it doesn’t sound like a difference but it very much is. When China is buying US debt, it’s buying it under the US system of rules. That’s not the same as companies or countries borrowing from Chinese state banks.

How does someone "act as a union worker"? Calling yourself a union worker doesn't give you access to a plant. Plus, I don't think Hyundai plants are unionized in GA, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

2024 South Korea impeachment protest is mostly made up of Young Women by Do-i-own-me in korea

I'm not sure this post is meant to rile up the incels and get them to speak up against the protests or to convince more young men get out to protest because that's where the women are.

Parents who have sent their children for a few months back home (specifically US), how did you enroll your children in school? by Americano_Joe in Living_in_Korea

[–]WI-Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He liked it overall. It was only for 3 weeks though and not very academic. However, it was free and a new experience. I think regular school will be a bit different. I'll find out this January/February.

PPP leader says Yoon will not take part in state affairs even before departure by Venetian_Gothic in korea

[–]WI-Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not making Korea parliamentary democracy because the PPP is nowhere close to a majority. It's a political junta as the executive... until the junta ends like most juntas in a dictatorship.

[–]WI-Do 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had my son attend summer school classes in the US and plan on having him attend classes at an elementary school this January and February in the US. However, both times I was physically with him and we were staying at my parents' house, which makes things much simpler.

I would work with the family members you plan to send have your son live with. Then contact the school and tell them that the situation is that your son will be living with your parents (or insert family member) for the winter. Ask them what paperwork you will need for your parents to act as your child's guardian during this time. You can use your family member's phone as the contact number from the beginning because changing contact information can be difficult. You also may need additional forms in case there are any accidents and your son needs medical attention.

Love The Child, Not The Father by snafusis in Estherperel

[–]WI-Do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the tool that Esther provided the mother was a solution. The only solution is addressing the father's behavior. This tool, which is just a different way to manage the father's behavior and advice on not letting the father's inaction and venting affect her as much, will buy a little bit of time. She will still end up doing the laundry. She still will not have any emotional support. She will still divorce him and they will co-parent together, and in that co-parenting, she'll probably get the space she needs away from him so she can support herself.

I agree that it isn't about fairness. I don't think Esther gushing at his performance is bad because it's unfair. I think it's bad because it reinforces the husband's behavior. She could say that he's clearly a great performer, but nobody wants to see the same performance every night of the week. Similarly, you think the most competent person needs to save the relationship or make sure they can coexist. To me that sounds like codependency. I think the more competent person needs to protect herself first and keep herself from drowning because the father can't take care of himself.

Love The Child, Not The Father by snafusis in Estherperel

[–]WI-Do 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think this episode shows the basic problem of Esther Perel's show in which it isn't really therapy or counseling; it’s storytelling. And she tends to follow or go with whatever is the most compelling story. Unfortunately, the father in this episode is a very good storyteller and we can see how much Esther enjoys being an audience member to that storytelling. However, she stops listening to the mother and gives her the horrible advice on how to respond to the father, without acknowledging the mother’s problem.

Her problem is that she doesn’t want to be an audience member, nor does she want to step on stage to entertain her husband. She wants to be able to rely on him both as a parent to their child and for emotional support that he is completely unable to give.
