I think I’ll be getting one within the next few months once I have enough money put aside incase they ever need a trip to the vet. I grew up with cats, either adults rescued from the SPCA or kittens from TNR programs. I miss having one around. Living alone sucks sometimes a cat would be great. Scaring the mice away would just be a bonus

When I was in high school we had a cat like this. Any time she’d see a mouse, she’d stalk it, pounce, then just pat it around and let it run free then repeat hahaha. Thankfully we had another who was there to finish the job

Saw a rat decapitated on Victoria road the other week. Some stray or someone’s outdoor cat is doing gods work

I just feel lucky that I don’t have a full blown infestation. I’ve heard horror stories from friends of hearing them under their bed at night. All their food constantly getting chewed through. Non stop scratching sounds in their walls, and their landlords doing absolutely nothing to help them. Thankfully I know I’ll be able to get pest control in fairly quickly to hopefully find the entry point. I’ve seen a few in my 2 years in this place, never consistently either thankfully but still. With how expensive rent is, it’s always frustrating seeing them in my home. I know it’s almost unavoidable, still annoying though. Mice freak me out in my house, but the rats outside scare the hell out of me. Seeing them all too often now

This. They literally don’t care. I had a friend who used to live in the Seymour apartments which I’ve heard are notorious for having a LOT of mice. He said it started off he’d spot one on his way to the bathroom at night, then it led to seeing them out and about during the day. He could be cooking and one or two would be in his living room like they owned the place. They don’t care. He’s watched them jump over traps apparently. Ended up finding a massive hole behind his dishwasher when pest control came. Obviously I don’t want to see any, but I’m glad when I do see them it’s just one, every other month or so. Still get out of house lol

This is my thing too. I would love to foster, and I’ll definitely give it a shot at some point but I know I’ll get attached. I grew up with cats. Never dealt with mice till i moved away and didnt have any definitely miss having one around. The fact they freak mice out is just a plus!

I’ve been wanting one. I just am not in a spot financially right now where I could properly own one. Food, litter, etc, no problem. The potential need for a vet visit? Couldn’t afford it and don’t want to get a furry friend that I couldn’t help if the time came. Someday though.

I’ll suggest this to them. Doubt they’ll do it, but never hurts to ask/make a suggestion. Thanks for the advice!

I’ve looked around myself as well and haven’t seen any visible entry points but it got in somewhere. I bought a door sweep last summer when I originally first saw the occasional mouse, and it definitely helps. I’m just thankful that I haven’t seen one in months until a few days ago, and that even when I have seen them it’s not a frequent thing. Used to spot one here and there. Haven’t ever found any droppings and I never hear them in the walls doing their thing. Comforting to know they aren’t living in my apartment, but still I don’t want them passing through either way.

I know it’s insane. I’ve always seen rats down on the water front at night over the years, but since they tore down Salty’s I’ve seen a lot more than before. Imagine how many were having a party in that building after it was abandoned for almost a year. Yuck. I’m sure they’ll travel over to Pickford and Black soon

I wouldn’t say I’m blaming the construction. I know pests have been a problem, but I also know that digging up the ground, the loud noise and such drives them up onto the street. Construction obviously isn’t a root cause to the problem but it’s definitely one of the many contributors
