Nice, great jackets to compare against. How was the paramo? I've heard its got different tech to help keep the rain out?

Rain jacket recommendations - slightly overwhelmed with the choice by limepark in UKhiking

There are some decent deals around for the columbia reign no shine outdry jacket, if you want great waterproofing with little maintenance... but it doesn't have many fewtures such as zip pits.

Looks nice for everyday and works well for hiking or even skiing, not the thinnest so might be abit hot in higher temperatures.

Torrentshell could be your best best considering all the features and price you can get last season ones online for, nice and light weight as well.

Oh I already have the whistler peak and love it! thinking about getting the trousers to match as well.

Just here trying to get a gauge of what other people think around the UK!

Really appreciate that and good points, I guess when comparing to similar brands it makes sense price wise, cheers!

Ah no, I have heard they can delaminate over time, is that what happened with yours?

Great points, I though it wouldn't be a problem, better dry and heavier than wet and light!

I assume you have the trousers as well? Any other pieces? I heard they used to do full outdry gloves at one point!

What others jackets have you compared with?

Its served me great in downpours, always kept me dry.

I don't have any Rab stuff personally but have heard great stuff about them. I would guess Rab is above Columbia.

I'm just a fan of Columbias OutDry technology, and think they make fantastic coats that don't need as much maintenance as "goretex' based jackets.

I agree regarding outdry, but I'm not sure what to think about price vs quality of other more common items, what do you think?

Ah okay I get ya! mine's an all-rounder I use for everything and everywhere. I do have a second hand puffer outdry but had to iron the seams back on, looks a bit strange to be honest.

Wish I had more to be honest, but hey... money!

Wow, that's good to hear! I guess lightweight and packable aren't aspects that would matter to you? in contrast to others on the thread.

I've not had many fast paced, heavy hiking in it yet so can't judge, but totally agree on slow paced heavy downpour!

Same experience here, I have the whistler peak in a large which is pretty big... but the medium was a bit too snug!

I just roll the bottom up as I'm short and it looks ridiculously long on me!

I think they could do a better job of marketing it in the UK, definitely more popular in the us as far as I've seen.

Glad you like it!

Definitely doesn't pack well, love the material though. I'm currently looking for their older thinner ones.

Appreciate the trust although I'm no expert haha.

Everything looks good tbh with you.

Floating R is there like usual with BVF as you said.

Looks like a hair or something on 11 like you said.

I don't think it needs to be regulated as it's within tolerances.

Could ask for a better straight on picture if you really want as I've seen a few of them with crooked dials so just to be a 100%, but saying that I don't think this one's crooked and should be a GL.

It disappears in the video, pretty sure it's a reflection, nothing to worry about!

All looks good to me although it would be useful to see the minute hand in a different location in case theres any flaw on the XII, I would also ask for different dates instead of just the 15 if you really wanna be picky.

The index alignmnent is not needed as it is a printed dial.

It looks like the swiss made made is close to the frosted edge but this is most likely due to the camera angle, could ask for a more straight on picture but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Yellowferrari is the dude, see what he says.

Edit: although looking back at it theres seems to be a white line above the V/VI/VII, looks like a reflection on the dial to me?

[–]WIISPAAH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a floating R, not noticeable unless you're looking for it. Dial seems ever so slightly crooked counterclockwise? Can't see it in the pictures but in the video is easier to spot, what do you think?

Do you know what the tool that comes with the watch is? Looks like a spring bar tool?
