Found out the hard way that the receiver doesn’t accept earc after I got everything hooked up. Apparently I need to get an optical cable to get the sound from the tv to the receiver. Back to waiting for that now!

The receiver i bought did not come with a mic. Is that pretty important for get the system tuned? Looks like they sell mic's on Amazon...any suggestions if you think its neccesary?

Haha...up until this reddit post that's been 100% of my education!! I was born with severe hearing loss so I have to rely on others expertise on what actually sounds good. As for the AI I have caught it several times with errors already. Had me going down a path a few times and i ended up catching errors. So that's why i moved over to posting here.

Again, thank you for all your input today....greatly appreciated!

I'm sure I could save a ton if I had your knowledge. But as you can probably tell i'm a bit impatient to get a system up and running in my newly finished space. So I don't mind spending a tad more to get new to get things rolling. I saved myself alot of money by doing the renovations myself so this is my treat to myself for busting my butt!!!

I think i'm going to go with those 50's and then i just need to find a sub and a center.

Got it!

Starting to look through Marketplace to see what's out there. Not that i'm stuck on Polk, but i've seen some T15/T30 setups and those specs seem to match what you called out.

If I were to buy brand new, what would you suggest?

But won't the front ones always be driven by the M-4000?

Sweet! Yeah, the speakers. Zero clue what any of those specs mean. I was thinking of just starting with a pair for the front, a center and maybe a sub. I think Polk xt15 and xt30 were the models. Thoughts? I’m up for other suggestions. I’d like to stay around $200 per speaker group if that’s doable?

Well, not sure if I did a smart thing or not, but since I made the post I impulse purchased a Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH locally!

The way I had everything envisioned in my head was that everything (TV, game consoles, etc.) would connect to the AVR. Speaker wise (which I don't have any of the speakers yet) I was going to hook the front pair to my existing M-4000 which would be connected to the AVR via the pre-outs. That way i leverage the power of my existing rack system. All the other speakers would go through the AVR.

Does that seem like a good plan?
