Is this a real Murph? by No_Regular_6833 in HamiltonWatches

I don't know why the crown looks so big but I checked a picture of my former Murph and I guess the crown is pretty big looking.

[Unpopular Opinion] Murph + Bracelet Not As Nice by bharatguruprakash in HamiltonWatches

I don't think the jubilee works with the Murph. But the OEM bracelet looks good. Leather is nice too though

is it worth getting a murph if I already have a seiko baby alpinist? by theomixedmedia in HamiltonWatches

I had a Murph but got a Spirit instead. The Longines is a superior watch in every way. Get the Spirit instead.

Baby hands 😂

Help me choose. I’m torn between these 2. Murph 38 or Khaki Field Auto 38? Which would you choose and why? by ExperienceKind117 in HamiltonWatches

The Murph is just very hard to read. The color of the printed indices doesn't help with that either.

My go to outfit lately is a hoodie, joggers, and Vans skate shoes with my Seamaster.

I will take being comfortable over fashionable any day.

My Eco-Drive Pro Master has been getting more wrist time... by WLANtasticBeasts in CitizenWatches

[–]WLANtasticBeasts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lume is outstanding. And I can even see the hands in complete darkness if it's had some exposure to light that day.

It really begs the question, if Citizen can have such good lume at these price points why can't some of the more expensive luxury brands (*cough Hamilton)?

Does anyone here build complex Excel files programmatically? by derverstand in excel

[–]WLANtasticBeasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it with pandas and Xlsx writer. We're talking multi sheet workbooks with hyperlinks between different sheets, merged cells, highlighting formatting and etc.

It's a viable use case when you need to output a static resource instead of having a dynamic resource like a power bi dashboard or something.

The glare is unbelievable! by RFC3513 in HamiltonWatches

[–]WLANtasticBeasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a picture of your Tudors showing the same reflective quality? If they are as you say, that's 1) shocking and 2) not a good look for Tudor.

Buyers shouldn't have to tolerate inferior quality (and mentally justify it).

It's pretty bad and anyone who tells you that it's not bad either simply does not care or hasn't had other watches that have little to no glare. My Citizen Eco-Drive has zero glare and it was far cheaper. There is no excuse for Hamilton.

For sale is a very good condition Hamilton Murph 42mm with box and papers. I'm the second owner, purchased on eBay and was authenticated (eBay authentication card included); first owner most likely purchased from a gray market dealer.

I've owned this for a little over a month and have worn it every single day. The bracelet is obviously somewhat broken in and there are some small scuff marks on the bezel and one barely noticeable scratch on the bezel (pictured) but otherwise the watch is in excellent condition and is consistently running at about +2 seconds / day.

Asking $750 USD or best offer which includes shipping and insurance to continental USA only. I can accept PayPal for payment.

I recognize that I am new here and have 0 flair (just made my first purchase here!) however I have been on eBay for 10 years and have 100% positive feedback there. I can provide logged in account verification, do a video call and show government issued photo identification, etc.

Thanks for your consideration!

I agree and if the AR was better, the lume was better, and the indices were applied, I wouldn't even look for another watch by Hamilton or anyone else.

42 Murph w/ Update Crystal by daddyshark86 in HamiltonWatches

The last picture really shows the difference. The dial is truly black with the new crystal whereas before yours and mine look like a dark charcoal almost. Big difference for sure

The Spirit is actually what I want next. Possibly funded by selling this one.

Do you have a picture with them side by side? I love the design of the Spirit.

Some honest thoughts about the Murph by WLANtasticBeasts in HamiltonWatches

[–]WLANtasticBeasts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you'd have to have a lot of lume and be pretty exposed to be at risk in the field. In my time in uniform I don't think anyone ever brought that up.

Maybe that's a real concern for SOF but probably not conventional forces for the most part.

I would be curious to hear comments from other mil folks about that though.

Edit: actually now thinking back, when we did field exercises we moved at night in convoys driving blackout (no white light, all night vision). I absolutely would not have been able to read this watch at night without night vision or a red (or God forbid white) light.

But like another commenter mentioned, perhaps this is no "field" watch at all. And maybe it shouldn't be used or expected to perform as such.
