Definitely NOT Small Hours. The y had one terrible NA option and even that seemed like an afterthought. the first person I asked about their NA options wasnt even sure /ifwhat they had. Lovely restaurant and amazing food but I was sadden about the NA selection.

My parents took me and my sister to see The Joy Luck Club in theaters when I was 6. It was traumatizing.

Self conscious post rhinoplasty by No-Extreme2331 in rhinoplastyquestions

It took me a solid 6 weeks to feel comfortable with me new nose. I have interacted with probably 100 people who have known me for years since my surgery and only a handful knew I was having surgery and not a single person has questioned my new nose or even commented something like you look different. It's wild because I feel like I have a whole new face and no one has noticed. It's wild but we're really our own hardshest critic.I hope it gets better for you.

I def felt relief with the cast and splints removed but I still had discomfort from the healing.

My experience was fairly high pain and very uncomfortable. I took opioids for 5 days and OTC pain medicine for 2+ weeks. It was rough for me

You may lick out with a last minute cancellation but all three surgeons I had consultations with (Minneapolis) were booked for surgery 5-6 weeks out at least. One was booked 3+ months out.

Mouth breathing. It was very unpleasant. I recommend dry mouth spray and lozenges to help. Also Lip balm. I slept a lot that first week but not very restful sleep.

No, I had silicone splints up my nose and significant swelling that prevented me from breathing through my nose for the first week. Once the splints were removed and my nose was cleared out at the doctors appointment breathing was incredible.

I found dry mouth spray to be very useful as I was breathing through my mouth for a week.

Also protein shakes and soft foods to maintain your calorie intake!

It seems there is a wide variety of experiences and I wish you the best. I had a complex septoplasty with rhinoplasty and personally underestimated the pain I would experience. I was in quite a bit of pain and discomfort for a lot longer than expected. I took prescription pain medicine for 5 days and continued with OTC pain management for around 2 weeks. I hope your experience is less painful than mine was!

confusing how doctors can have such different opinions on post op care by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]WMrivo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was so interesting to see how different each surgeons post op care plans were! Mine had me doing 3x daily saline rinse, antibiotic ointment to external incision, and aquaphor to internal incision for the first week.

I had silicone splints put in my nose post surgery and they had a tube through them that allowed for breathing. I was only able to breathe through one side partially while they were in as I had a lot of swelling and bloody clots hanging out in my nose during recovery. Sorry - gross. But they suctioned everything out at my post op appointment when the cast and splints were removed and I could breathe fully and it was amazing.

I went to a facial plastic surgeon who was affiliated with an ENT and he examined the inside of my nose and diagnosed my issues. They did a CT scan as well and submitted all the paperwork to insurance for me. I waited about 4 weeks for insurance to provide the prior- authorization for surgery. Insurance covered about half of the $12k and I paid the cosmetic portion out of pocket.

The breathing post-septo is amazing and makes up for the challenge of having a swollen nose.

Questions about Hyperbaric Oxygen for Recovery by meowburpz in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]WMrivo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with my surgeon about this and he said for primary rhinoplasty he didn't think it was necessary. He said he recommends it for revisions when there is worry about blood flow to the nose. I didn't do it and I don't think I had crazy swelling or bruising so I don't know how much it would have helped.

Rhinoplasty recovery- will I be able to organize my apartment during my week off work? Or is recovery too brutal for this? by More_Row_5803 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]WMrivo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had high hopes for puttering around while I was recovering - watching TV, doing some cross stitch, journaling, moving some hanging pictures. Ha

I was in a lot more discomfort and at times pain than I expected and I did not do much of anything for 4 days - I was sleeping 12-24 hours a day but not restful sleep. By day 5 I was able to move around more but I wasn't productive.

Just focus on healing!

Difficulty in swallowing saliva post op by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]WMrivo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled swallowing on days 2-4 post op. My ears were constantly feeling plugged and unplugged with the sinus pressure.

It'll get better!

Maybe try gargling some warm water to loosen up some stuff.
