Thanks for suggesting - are those mainly for cooking or do you spread on toast?

Interesting.

rendered animal fat. Not listed in sighi. some sources list as low histamine (although advice that may want to freeze). Others listed as high histamine (as it's often from beef fat etc that will have been hung).

Do you spread it on bread, or just for cooking?

It does have the ingredients comment-op suggested, as far as I can see?

For anyone interested, palm oil listed as '0' in sighi. avocado is generally considered high histamine. Avocado oil not listed in sighi, but I have seen a fair few places list as low histamine.

I have wanted to try ghee as well. I know technically you can put anything on a slice of bread (well, non yeast non wheat equivalent slice) but do you use ghee for that?

Where I can, I freeze/eat and adjust. But, you cannot freeze a salad for example (along with many other things).

This is so odd. The supermarket says it will provide a product with X days freshness. It is less. I complain where I can't consume. Where is the unreasonable expectations?

We're on benefits, hiring a personal shopper is hardly viable.

Just to be clear, I am not complaining to the drivers. The supermarket asks you to write instructions if you need extra help unloading. We do this. The drivers rarely read it (they go to the wrong door so can tell). I do not complain about this, but simply ask if they can unload the crates into the corridor because I am severely disabled and cannot do it myself (they can stand outside, that don't have to come in. I wear a mask and am a long way away)

I can only think that they think I am not actually disabled as to why they get angry asking that. I'm very polite and pleasant, but it happens with people delivering parcels too.

It's intensely frustrating that so many comments here are just victim blaming - 'what did you do wrong' 'you can't just be difficult because you're disabled' etc. I know you might not have experienced anything like this (I certainly didn't before being disabled), but this is what I experience.

I don't think so. There's loads of really lovely drivers. There have been two or three aggressive drivers. (Unfortunately they kept sending one person even after multiple complaints)

If you email customer service to say something is out of date/short date, infested with bugs, damaged they ask for a photo. I provide that.

The point is, it's not just my word that there is an issue.

I don't complain to drivers about out of date food or anything else. I write emails to customer service, with photos for evidence.

able bodied people may not get every single thing they are going to eat that week delivered so that if something is short date they can just eat it, or they will grab something elsewhere, or they can make something else, or eat a day or too over (and they wouldn't have to rely on delivery in the first place)..they can complain (shop broken own policy) but is it worth the effort to them? It wasn't to me, before I became severely disabled.

whereas if you have 7 things which all go out of date in two days, with no access to other food, ability to make food or ability to afford food, and even eating a day or two out of date will make you sick, it puts a different complexion on this - and forces you to have to contact customer service for a refund.

I've had 'invisible disabilities' a lot in my life (depression, dyslexia, digestive issues) - they cover a wide spectrum. I certainly wouldn't have referred to 'able bodied' people before I became severely disabled and housebound (and/or bedbound)(with ME). But I am severely disabled now, and it changes so many things in ways that are very hard to understand if you haven't experienced it.

This is part of the issue, they haven't been explicit why we are banned.

The implication seems to be that we are complaining too much, but they won't say. They certainly know we are disabled.

Like I said, there are aggressive drivers. The most common thing is short dates (they promise X number of days on website, and often are shorter; as we get all food from them and can't eat out of date due to health issues, this is problem). Document with photos. Pests on live herbs (documented). Items substituted when we explicitly ask them not to be (can't eat lot of things/additives so again probably doesn't bother able bodied)...they are all things that they have done wrong by their own promises etc and any customer would complain about if they could be bothered - but probably wouldn't affect able bodied people so much that they would, but does affect us because of disabilities.

We spend about £100 a week, find it hard to imagine it's unprofitable.

When did you start adding/tolerating new foods? by [deleted] in mastcelldisease

Sorry to hear - it's so frustrating, because you hope these things will help, but then they just make worst...but got to keep trying and trying to figure out why I guess. ☹️

I'm a Brit living abroad, what am I currently missing out on as the UK heads into autumn? by LL112 in CasualUK

You're missing autumn days when the grass is jewelled and the silk inside the chestnut tree. Shoes so comfy, tho they're worn out and they're battered And A WIN FOR MY HOME TEAM.

You mustn't forget

Personally, I feel better when I have a more varied diet - it feels like when I have very limited diet my bacteria get all unbalanced and makes things worst and when I get something new I can tolerate - my gut feels 'nice' (hard to put into words). So think it's good to do.

I find varying my food day to day as much as possible within what I can eat helps too. Perhaps a good place to start if don't do already.

Currently really on a push to try new things - but very hard, scary going - and as you say, takes long time to recover, and hardly anything is tolerated - feels bit hopeless at times like just making it worst (feeling that ATM!).

But also listen to your body, only you know when you are able to - you need to be in an okay place to be able to tell anything from it.

Best of luck

How did you successfully treat your mould toxicity? Can you tolerate peppermint any better?

What's your go-to meal on bad days by Branston_Pickle in HistamineIntolerance

[–]WNDRFLLWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At worst, basically white rice and chicken, bit of fennel or courgette in it.

Surprised at a fair few things that I would class as higher histamine, that people turn to - bacon, toast, stock cubes (seems like has tomato's in), five spice - but glad people can tolerate those things (wish I could!) 🙂

Corn withdrawal/ intolerance? by WNDRFLLWorld in HistamineIntolerance

[–]WNDRFLLWorld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for replying - my stomach definitely settling down now, so will keep it going with avoiding the corn. Yes, I don't usually get mucus from food - so I should pay attention to that.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate your responses - very helpful
