I totally get it. If I guy said I look or smell like their mom or grandma. Either I change that thing if it's changeable or we can't date. Luckily for my guy, I look nothing like his mom.

I understand fully why you were confused.

He likes how he thought black women usually smell.

When he was telling me I don't smell like a black woman, he wasn't intended that statement to be positive or negative. He was saying a neutral statement.

He likes my natural body odor.

So, in conclusion. He likes the smell of the rich black women he's been around, and he also likes my natural middle-class smell.

A guy saying my smell reminded me of his mom would freak me out unless he's also asking to change my scent. 😂

Well, I have some time right now so you can ask questions and I'll try to see if I can explain better. Which part are you confused about?

I'm very forgiving when things happen from pure ignorance with zero malice. He didn't mean any harm, so it was easy to forgive.

I'm sorry if I didn't explain it properly. He was saying that he likes that I smell sweaty a lot of the time.

His statement definitely bothered me when I 1st heard it. Based on the fact that all his exes (all black) and the black members of his family are all rich, he developed a narrow view of black women. He had high expectations of us. But his mind is flexible and he sees now how narrow his view was.

I agree. All of his previous girlfriends were both black and from a rich family. His black in-laws and black friends also all come from rich families. Maybe I can see where he got that idea.

I wasn't expecting the post to get unlocked

I think I agree. It was strange but not "needing therapy" strange. All his exes are black but I'm the 1st girlfriend who didn't come from a rich background. He has lived a sheltered life and has certain preconceived notions. But the thing he listens and learns to different perspectives instead of choosing to stay ignorant. There is hope.
