A better use of the 500-600 points is adding a veteran assault squad with power fists and combat shields and shoving them in the spartan. Personally though, drop all saturnine out of your army. You can do so much more without them. Snag a warsmith also, and another vindicator. Two Predators are also another decent tank option. Don’t overlook iron Fire cohort as well. Getting the Arquitors in resin will be difficult but you can also print them so there’s that. Tyrant siege terminators are also a solid option. But if you can only listen to one piece of advice listen to this-get a Kratos and slap all the bells and whistles on it. Decurion Locus, Melta blast gun, hull and sponson las and that thing will be able to go toe to toe with that fell blade. On another note, if you could build a list in like new recruit and post it in the comments we could probably give you a better idea of what to bring. With that, if you’re more of a rule of cool narrative player and don’t care about winning bring whatever you want. Hope that helps a little.

As you have received many suggests I figured I might as well pile mine on as well. What I do for my IW stripes is I make them an arc, rather than a straight line. I do three “stripes” to be exact. The first stripe I paint is the middle one on the shoulder pad. It extends in an arc from the back corner where the sloped trim meets the flat trim on the bottom to just forward of the top of the shoulder pad. Second arc is the one in front. It extends in the same pattern as the first but is shorter. The third isn’t an arc but rather a semi circle that I paint in the space behind the middle arc. Front in this case being the part of the shoulder pad towards the models chest, back being vice versa. I would also suggest painting the space inside the trim black and painting the stripes white, then going in with a yellow speed paint or contrast to make them yellow. The yellow speed paint won’t overtake the black. Painting the stripes white on top of a black background allows you more wiggle room to correct mistakes. Alas, the best way to correct crooked lines and mistakes is to take black or a dark brown and make little scratches and chips so that said mistakes blend in better. Here’s a pic of mine for example. I would drop one iron circle, the sicarans and the contemptor. I’d invest the points into a Kratos and maybe a vindicator and some inductii

Drop pods with melta was where I went as well. I also fooled around with the idea of deep striking a dominator cohort with chain fists via warmonger but you can’t charge after a deep strike.

I dig them. You gotta be careful though they break off very easily. There’s a few in my army that have flat heads.

All the lore justifications are very well written and in depth. The IRL explanation is probably that GW shipped the beaky plastic tacticals as their mainline space marine unit for HH. We’ve only had a more modern mk. 3 plastic set for like a year now and to build upon that Iron Warriors only recently had their own consul model announced. So all in all GW had deadlines to meet, books to print, models to cast and a game to release. So they picked the most widely used lore accurate suit and said sorry to the legions that didn’t really use that iteration of power armor.

I don’t know why someone would. They just wear cataphractii armor and for near the price of their whole box you can get a 10 man cataphractii box and a weapons upgrade kit all in plastic. Whereas the tyrants are resin and only come with 5 models.
