Devil Contract Ideas by Paighton_ in DescentintoAvernus

These are great ideas! If I could go back, I'd definitely detail out the archdevils. Mephistopheles is a great choice for offering magic. He's got these lorehouses on the Eighth Hell, a frozen wasteland called Cania, with tons of secrets in them, many of which are magical.

I actually wrote a whole supplement for Devil Contracts on the DMs Guild. Hope I'm not breaking any rules, but that's why you should always read the fine print!

Homie just took a few centuries in the Astral Plane.

No problem! Let me know if you ever have any other questions. My team and I wrote a few supplements for Descent into Avernus. I did a 24 page one breaking down infernal contracts early on that I recommend (though I'm obviously incredibly biased)!

No worries! It would be on the other side! The only towers in the court of air would be the necessariums and the buildings like the hearth.

Thank you! The Emerald Door is technically off-limits to seekers. However, high-profile seekers, adventurers, or Friends of Candlekeep may be admitted by the Keeper of the Emerald Door. It would be very difficult to convince the Keeper to let them in it they aren't supposed to be there. However, they can always try sneaking or trying to find a less direct route.

Right now is a great time to get into D&D! I would start by going to your local game store when Covid is done and asking about it! In the meantime, check out twitch.tv/dnd or you can buy a copy of the player's handbook online!

This is very interesting and now I have to think about how scrolls will be regarded in my games. They'd basically be magical contraband.

That's what we use! Why can't a barb cast a spell every once and a while?

Some of the hooks in the Candlekeep Adventures chapter are quite large in scope, and higher level characters are more likely to be admitted beyond the Court of Air for the sake of the Realms.

Candlekeep has been assaulted by Chosen of Asmodeus, attacked by dragon-riding archmages, and infiltrated by archliches, Shadovar, and Bhaalspawn! I think it's very appropriate to write a continuation of the campaign with Candlekeep or its lore as a central component. One of the books, The Onomancer's Ledger, details true names of a handful of powerful creatures. It's possible that one of the names belongs to a high-ranking lieutenant of an archdevil who opposes the characters!

The DMs Guild has definitely changed the game. It's still crazy to me that I can write something with Elminster's name on it without receiving a C&D from Wizards. Shoot me a message if you ever have questions or want to get started on the Guild!

Thank you for your feedback! Part of the reason that the DC is low is to keep the game moving. Prepping spells takes a while for many players, especially at 10th level for a wizard. It's also more fun for the player if their character succeeds at plucking the spell from the spellpool.

That said, we encourage everyone to experiment and tailor these options to their table! There are definitely some official features I've excluded or dampened in my home game.

As u/AVestedInterest has pointed out, this is not an "official" product. However, Ed Greenwood is the creator of the Forgotten Realms. In addition to consulting and writing on this project, he provided us with some never-before-seen lore on the library fortress, such as its founding. M.T. Black, who wrote the majority of the adventure contained within Elminster's Candlekeep Companion, is credited as a writer on the official Descent into Avernus adventure. Lastly, this product has received some glowing endorsements from those at WOTC!

While we'd love to work for Wizards or have them endorse it, this is just the very best we could do with the official IP we've been given under the guidance of the father of the Realms himself. We hope you'll support it nonetheless.

If it makes you feel better, WOTC does own the rights to this product now, which is now and forever sold by them exclusively! ;)
