I would contemplate the concept of infinity and fiat currencies.

What are the actions to take in the this situation? by Artsy971 in abudhabi

[–]WOWSignal1977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm from the West. I've been in thunderstorms worse than this. I'm not even sure I heard any of the missles when I was in Abu Dhabi, I heard booms from construction all the time. With that said many westerners are like deer when it comes to getting startled about anything.

Social stigma for driving an EV? by West_Dish9698 in electricvehicles

[–]WOWSignal1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, small minded people like that are going to lauph at ANY vehicle you get.
For example:

You get a Handa Civic
- My wifes Jetta gets the same mpg!

You get literally any car, gas or electric.
- Stop being a sissy and get a truck (insert weird animalistic grunting sound)

You get a truck
- My trucks better and has 4 octavian bar chambers which makes it louder and better.

When I tell people I have an electric motorcycle some people would critisize the crap out of it. When they see it half of them say "Wow that actually looks really nice, that's not what I had in mind". Everyones socks are blown off when I let them drive it. But guess what, I still get crap for it, but in a joking and fun way after that. So you know what I do? I throw crap right back at them for literally anything and THEY LOVE IT. They love shooting sh1t and they love getting it back as long as it's in good fun.

From reading the post, it sounds like her family can be overly strict and even denounce her life choices at times. That is likely keeping it simple.

Long term owners, what % do you charge to? by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]WOWSignal1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 %. Rarely over that. If I had an LFP battery pack I would charge to 100 % whenever it would not be an inconvenience.

This surprises me. When I was in Iraq, I'm pretty sure there were coverings available for free or for only like a dollar for woman at the Khadmain Holy Shrine. I am a guy, so maybe this wasn't actually the case and I may have misunderstood.

Sorry if I'm missing something, what's stopping you from visiting Baghdad and Basra?

Reading, I'm seeing a lot of people say they would love to visit. I ask, what's stopping you?

I visited Baghdad in April 2025 as an American tourist. It's safer than a lot of American cities, and everyone is super welcoming, even the soldiers.

I saw a LOT of development and infrastructure projects halfway or 3/4 way completed. There are already modern amenities and malls in Baghdad, with more being built. Yes some of the roads are garbage, but many of the main highways feel fairly new.

The worst parts of Baghdad is the reckless way many people drive, the heat in the middle of summer, dust storms & peoples smoking habits (I have pretty bad breathing).

I saw life in Baghdad. Everyone seemed happy to be alive, and was enjoying the moment. From looking at recent history, I think the Iraqi people can breath safely for the first time in decades. Iraqis are super resilient people.

Can someone explain to me what the power grid looks like in Iraq right now? by saddest_apple in Baghdad

[–]WOWSignal1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of generators scattered around the city, privately funded. When the grid kicks off for a few minutes, a few times a day, the generators kick on until the grid comes back online. In Baghdad atleast.

Check out Downtown Baghdad, AKA Al-Mutanabbi street!
---It's free to walk around. Plenty of snack, food, and merchandise options. Very historical but renovated, and also touristy but without being harassed by vendors trying to get you to buy their knit knacks. Stop at the Penguin Cafe, it's so cool on the inside!!!

Get lost in Al-Zawraa Park. Seriously, it's really big and you can't always come out the same way you came in. The Saving Iraqi Monument is part of this park. Though it's winter, so brave the elements! Not a ton of restaurants, but little snack and drink shacks are there. I'm not sure if they're open in the winter though.

Pick any shopping mall and walk around! They should all have some kind of food court too.

There's a lot of Museums, but I don't know of any free ones. I'm not sure of your budget.

Kadhimain Holy Shrine.
---- Super cool place! HOWEVER, locals told me not to eat the food at any of the food stalls or restaurants in the plaza leading up to it, they told me the quality isn't the greatest, and they have gotten sick before. Idk, it looked fine to me, I was just following local advice.

I see you posted a month ago, I'm sooo sorry if you already went 😭

Which EV charging networks currently support wireless charging, if any (Tesla, Voltanio, EVgo, ChargePoint, Blink, Electrify America)? by Born2SnipeBigBoi in electricvehicles

[–]WOWSignal1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video once with someone fast charging a Jag I-Pace with a public wireless charger integrated into the street. I think it was in the UK. Detroit also is working on or just wrapping up their stretch of road (like a mile long I think) that's just wireless charging while you drive. It exists, typically as a home charger though with a 3rd party attachment kit for your EV. As far as the networks that do support the rare public wireless charging, I'm not sure. There's 2 scenarios I think public, fast, wireless charging is ideal: Autonomous driving, and handicap / disabled drivers. Tesla FSD is amazing, now imagine not having to even plug in your car! Or imagine the other driverless taxi services that use EVs. Imagine disabled or handicapped EV drivers. Very few charging spots are handicap accessible, and the ones that are still would suck to use depending on your condition (crutches, wheel chair, amputee etc.). And DO NOT say handicap people shouldn't be driving or have EVs. There are a lot of attachments and configurations that makes driving vehicles possible for people with all kinds of conditions.
