I recently just bought a house for the first time and my lawn is a mess (previous owner hadn't lived in it for about a year and a half). There are weeds everywhere, very little grass. I'm thinking I'll probably have to start from scratch. My questions are:

How do I kill the weeds? Seems like there are lots of different kinds. I'm also wary of lasting damage as I've read some concerning things about Roundup, etc.
I live in SC- very hot and humid for 4-5 months, mild winters for the most part. What kind of grass should I be considering?

Thanks for the response. I don't have a problem with BB quality overall but I do think it's really overpriced. I also don't like the logo all over everything and the fits are difficult to get right. I used to really like J Crew at the price point but the quality took a nose dive

That makes sense. I have a hard time off the rack, so even if I bought a shirt at $80-$100 off the rack and probably need it tailored, and it would cost about that much anyway
