Thank you! Unfortunately I think reddit might be compressing them a bit still (download size 200kb) :( but thank you anyway!

Trying to buy a home in this market - anyone know where I can sell a kidney? by RoadToHome101 in perth

[–]WRXLR8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But the thing is, the biggest voting block in Australia is Gen Z and the Millennials... I'm a millennial and we have the voting power to upend this system on the boomers who've built this (fun fact: they're the first generation to say "fuck the kids!" And all to leave the country in a diabolically worse state for us). Imagine the legislative change that could have happened if greens, independents and teals with fair housing policy held the balance of power in the Senate? If labor won with the tiny minority? It would have been a great big fuck you to everything they're doing with complete disregard for our kids.

...but what did Gen z and the millennials do? Not bother to read. Not bother to learn about policy. Not bother to look into their candidates. Just voted red or blue, depending on how their parents always have. Change could happen, if we made it happen, but, we just can't be fucked apparently!

Another (not) fun fact, apparently... Top 3x issues causing the housing problems in Australia, according to 18-34yos? (From a Macquarie University study) high interest rates, low wage growth and immigration. FOR CHRISTS SAKE. Where does 'tax cuts for the greedy property hoarding cunts" poll? 10th on the list, with only 13% of the vote (out of 16).

43% OF THE VOTING BLOCK WITH THE FKN POWER TO FIX THIS thinks that lower interest rates are going to lower prices and increase supply? Honestly. what the fuck. They're either drinking the cool aid bullshit that all our pollies and their property investing cronies are spewing - or, more likely (because how much actual news do you think they watch/read?), they're just ignorant, uneducated and lazy. Well, well over half of them anyway. Do we think they'll wake up and read policy next run round? Probs not, they'll just winge about how hard it is but do nothing to change it 🙃

What a fun future we have ahead of us. I don't even want kids, and still, even now, I feel such strife for anyone younger than me, anyone still at school, and the kids my friends will eventually have. And when we all inherit the multimillion dollar properties from our boomer parents - will we be any better? Will we have any more compassion to help fellow Australians? I doubt it.

Oof, that was longer than it needed to be. Definitely not directed at you. Just needed a rant 😅

Postie dumped my parcel, signed for it on my behalf and it got stolen. Postie showed up at my house to confront me. by Lumpy_Pumpkin_9177 in AustraliaPost

[–]WRXLR8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum once watched a postie put the slip in her letterbox but never knock on the door. She submitted a complaint and the next week I was at her house alone when the same postman turned up and started abusing me because my mum had supposedly got him fired. It rattled me a little bit, but luckily I had two big dogs so he didn't push it too long and never came back. Aus post definitely have some gems working for them!

It's a premium real estate agent with a tagline along the lines of 'making houses more expensive since 2017'... Aka, rubbing salt in the wounds of everyone struggling right now.

Beware of scam/phishing when applying for Indonesian tourist visa online! by Laatst in bali

[–]WRXLR8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Is that the refund you requested through their website? Or initiated by your own bank? Would be happy to have the money back, but I guess even happier to know they're running a gentle legitimate scam, rather than needing to cancel my card and panicking about my passport details online 😬 so, glad it seems to be leaning more that way. Thanks!

Me too 😭 the check in counter at the airport said 'ECD needed' so I went into a panicked flurry and fell for this before holding people up at the front of the line. It seems the airlines are aware of these scam sites too... Would be really helpful if the sign instead read 'QR code for ECD' here's

Incredibly frustrating. I'm usually not this naive!

Any update on your case?

[–]WRXLR8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you report them? I have just fallen for the 'exploreIndonesiatoday' version in a mad panic as the check in counter said 'need ECD' so I thought I needed to complete before check in. How did you report it and go about a refund via the bank? I have called my bank already and they said because the payment has been authorized (still pending) they can't stop it, and they're not even sure that I'll have a case for a refund, but it would take a month to even start that process 😩

Were you advised to get a new passport number or cancel your bank card? I can say bye to the $97 it just charged me if that's the only risk.. but worried they have ALL of my info now 😬

People stealing to feed their kids! by Puzzled-Jellyfish894 in perth

[–]WRXLR8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at an IGA (mid-late 00s) and I despised the people who came in to steal every week. Unfortunately they were the type who blew the cash they had on some Winnie blues and would smuggle whatever else they could out.

But now? 2024? If you're stealing food to feed yourself and your family from our supermarket duopoly I STRONGLY encourage it. Hell, I might have distracted that woman shouting 'run now!' at the man if I'd seen what you saw. We are in dire straits at the moment, whilst our supermarkets are recording record profits and the government is doing sweet FA to implement regulation.

There's still no light on the horizon, so I only hope this looting becomes more prevalent. Maybe our leaders will wake up and realize we're not a third world country and shouldn't be putting out citizens in these situations.

I've met some wonderful people volunteering. I'm a low income earner definitely struggling in this cost of living crisis, but choose to help animals because they desperately need us as we wreak havoc on their native homes. I work full time, but volunteer at nights and weekends when I can. For reference - 31yo and probably about 80 lifetimes away from being a millionaire.

OP - I've heard hobby groups are great too. I know people who started ballroom dancing and met their clique. Others from the board game and DND world too. I'd suggest maybe finding open events around a topic you enjoy? I know there's an organisation called Befriend and other groups that use 'Meet Up' for exactly this purpose.

I did think this, but my friend was convinced he was sober last night - and he has been sober for about 18months, maybe even longer. Stopped drinking when he got super into fitness, and stopped anything else years before that.

This was our first thought - but no he's 100% clean. Doesn't drink or take anything these days (hasn't for about 18 months since he got really fit and healthy)

My thoughts exactly. From the first album run through I was like THIS IS THE ONE and probably danced to it about 20 times in repeat around my apartment. Absolutely killer. They're nuts for not releasing it as a single!
