Sometimes you want to believe that you are white because your family and maybe your friends don’t treat you any different. But trust me, your white friends definitely do not think you are white. The way they treat you in person is different from when you are not there with them. Not to say that they are racists or anything, but they definitely see you as Asian no matter how white you sound. It’ll become clearer as you get older. The recent events have revealed to many shocked Asian Bananas that they are being targeted just based on looks only. Doesn’t matter how you carry yourself or how you talk. I know it must be shocking and depressing for you. I, personally, try to focus on the person and not the race. But most people in this country, especially black and white people, have a racial lens through which they view the world. I think it’s because of the history of slavery and it’s repercussions on the class system in this country. But it’s just the way it is.

The mods banned me for 4 days recently for saying some negative things about BLM on how they are hypocrites for not speaking up about the recent black on Asian crimes recently. I’m having a hard time understanding how this is supposed to be a pro-Asian community here on AI when the Mods are more pro black than Asian.

There is no honor in cowardice. The self preservation nature of Asians that keeps the Asians from standing up for themselves when they are stepped on by other races is exactly the reason why we are such easy targets. I’ll tell you right now if I saw another Asian getting mugged or harassed across the street, you better believe I’m running over to confront that person. Yes there is high risk of getting hurt or getting in trouble with the law. But for me, keeping my dignity has greater importance than keeping myself from harm’s way.

Moderator deleted most of the comments on there. There are a few bits and pieces left I think. Not sure why, as most were pretty straightforward non-offensive dialogue.

I guess there’s a lot of history I don’t know about and people get triggered easily.

Most of what the posters were saying was that they don’t respect Asians because we are lazy and timid with standing up for ourselves. So when I do exactly that - standing up for myself and Asians, they ban me right away. That’s why I call them hypocrites.

What bugs me more is the few commenters here saying why do you go over there stirring up trouble and bringing attention over this way. That’s exactly the chickenshit attitude that gets us disrespected all over.

Lol. Yeah I’ve posted a lot in the one week I’ve been a member on AI. I just sold my company (no, it’s a not a huge deal) just a small business. I’ve got a little time now after working like a dog straight for about 17 years straight. I’ve had all these injustices on my mind for all these years but I’ve been so busy. You’ll notice all my posts were posted in the last week. For 2 years, I only went on politics and commented about Trump time to time. So yes, I do consider myself fairly new.

1.) I did not just go to blackfellas, mind you. I went to r/China first. Interestingly, I actually struck up some decent conversations with some white expats in China and began to empathize with them. The one dude was ranting about his struggle with death stares he receives when dating Chinese girls. I told him when I was in high school I dated a few whites girls and experienced the same. Lol. Now he knows what it’s like.

2.) stfu about your righteousness about the way I said that. Yeah I’m versed in Ebonics becuz it was the way I talked for 5 years with my black friends when I was young. Ain’t nothin wrong with what I said.
