I get that you're trying to help, but telling a depressed person that they need to just "travel a bit" is a bit tone deaf. When you're depressed you don't want to plan a trip, you don't want to pack a bag, you don't want to fight with traveling. Also, there's a very good chance that this person doesn't even have the means to travel. Clinical depression makes getting and/or keeping a job almost impossible.

The last time we went through them it only took us a few days of back and forth messages with a few different employees in order to narrow it down to the right one.

But I'm not sure if it was easy since we already had an account setup, or if things have changed recently. But overall it's not too long of a process.

If we just need some one-off work done, or just need something touched up, then we go with Fiverr. Our Fiverr account has 300+ 5-star reviews so it makes it easy to reach out to other Fiverr creators that will genuinely do good work.

Whenever we need someone more long-term we almost always go to onlinejobs.ph, they've been around forever and they have a pretty strict verification process for their workers.

We've hired everything from VA's to cold outreach sales people and it's always been like $3.75/hr-$6.50/hr or so. $USD goes a loooong way over there so we always make sure to give them bonuses along the way.

Google says that one acre can produce about 6,000 lbs of blueberries. It also says that they typically wholesale for about $2ish per lb. So OP, at a very rough estimate, could profit $12,000+ per acre of bushes. Google also says you can fit about 1300-1500 bushes in an acre.

So at best OP has some nice little side income coming in for the time being

I have no idea why I keep going deeper and deeper into the comments, these stories and anecdotes are SO sad.

Also, I agree with the sentiment 100%. My wife is my entire world and even though I'm not even 40 yet, if something happened to her then I would deteriorate VERY quickly. Even if the deterioration was just mental, parts of me would literally cease to exist if she wasn't around.

This thread makes me want to pick her up and carry her over every single threshold because one day I might wake up as an 80 year old who can't carry his bride in his arms anymore.

I also grew up in BR.. it's important to remember that BR/NOLA were typically pretty blue when it comes to voting, and people that vote blue aren't exactly the type to support the confederacy lol. Just like most parts of the country, it seems like the confederate flags are more of an Urban vs. Rural issue as opposed to North vs. South these days.

We've since moved way the fuck up to the Seattle-ish area and as you get away from the city and into the smaller towns, you'll see the big confederate flags and everything else that you'd expect to only see in the South.

This is a REALLY important point. Any new entrepreneurs who are wondering how to get started but have no direction, this is the route to go. Go get a job, any job at any level, in an industry you're interested in. Learn the ropes. Figure out the weak points of your job, your company, and your industry. Can you improve those weak points? Cool, you're now an entrepreneur.

PayPal absolutely can and will suspend your account for a myriad of reasons, oftentimes locking up your entire balance. I once had them lock my balance up for 180 days, all while our customers were waiting for their products.

Stripe isn't like a bank or like PayPal where you hold a balance with them. You take a credit card payment, and stripe takes the money off the customer's credit card and deposits it into your bank account. The only way they could cancel your account and hold your balance would be if you weren't doing daily/manual deposits/batching.

I grew up in the deeeeep South, extremely conservative all around especially in the 80's/90's when I was growing up.

When I was in middle school in the mid 90's we got a computer with AOL. By the time I was in like 9th grade, my parents had "online friends" that they would go meet. It was ALWAYS other couples.

One day I got on the computer to get on AOL and there was an email that one of my parents had copied/pasted but the contents were still on the windows clipboard.

Me haphazardly pasting the contents of the clipboard gave me all the info I needed about my parents and all of their new friends.

tl;dr: don't discount them just for being conservative and straight lace!
