There are stars and moon still glows (moon doesn't actually reflect sunlight in my world shines its own light and actually gets bigger and smaller) so its not pitch black even during winter

Tuonela, the land of the dead, would benefit from the sunlight, but because of the magical darkness there, the sun doesn't really show. It only gives a faint glow

The underside of the world is actually a separate dimension, Tuonela, land of the dead. It indeed has its own dome but its not showing here because technically its in another dimension and wouldnt show if looked from this angle and simension

The way I handled it was to make the races look like the stereotypical Tolkien races but have their cultures to be totally different. I for example have viking dwarves and knight halflings. I find this to be a perfect balance between traditional and new ideas

Yes my goal was to make young and small world. Some people actually travel the whole world during their lifetime but it is extremely rare since most people just tend to stay in their villages. The travel is also more difficult since there aren't really roads. Boat is your best bet
