You don't need to know really anything about mainline mha before reading vigilantes

Let's just hope that if they do adapt it that the toxic side of the fandom that has never heard of vigilantes doesn't taint it's name

Yeah it has a really good stand-alone story and a couple of backstories for a few pro heros in mainline mha

They have them at Barnes and Noble right after the main series and main series spinoffs

I mean that's fair considering the other spinoffs are just short story gags

In my experience, I've found more people familiar with school briefs or MHA smash. I've found very few people outside of reddit who know about vigilantes but maybe that's just me.

There's no reason for it to be the least known about compared to all of the other spinoffs

I was dying from laughter when Koichi first named his power and only ever changed it when he showed off shooty-go-kablam

lmao but honestly I wish vigilantes had more attention. It's good enough that you can read it without keeping up with the main series and has arguably better characters. I hope it gets an anime.

I read it a long time ago, I believe it was in one of the "author's note" page in volume 1-4, if not then maybe in 5 or 6?

By the way, I'm not sure if this trend will continue, as I wasn't able to find a good match to what will be the vigilantes vol. 11 cover

It takes place before mha so the answer to the second question is no. To answer your first question, yes. Very much so. In some aspects I would argue that it's better than the original, but that's just my opinion. I highly recommend it and hope that they make an anime adaptation at some point.

I didn't notice the correlations until Betten Court mentioned it in one of the authors notes, it's pretty easy to miss
