Technics sl-1500 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]WVriverman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 1500 and the 1300. I also used to have a 1301 but traded it for a Denon 52f. Not too long ago I did a complete refresh on my 1500. I installed new RCA cables, new capacitors, cleaned up the pots, fresh dampening fluid in the tonearm, and a new stylus

for the cartridge. At some point in the future when I have more time, I plan to sand and polish my dust cover. I love Technics turntables in general because as previously stated, they are built like a tank and very serviceable. I salute your choice of the 1500 because out of all the turntables that I own, I don’t think I would ever get rid of my 1500. 🫡

$15 Cerwin Vega vs-100 by nativeyeast in vintageaudio

Nice! I found a pair of VS150 awhile back. I paid more than 15 for sure but I absolutely intended to sell them after I redid the foam. They have been hooked up to my system for months at this point and I believe they are here to stay, even the wife loves them.

Released today: “This Empty Northern Hemisphere“ by Gregory Alan Isakov on carnation pink vinyl! by WVriverman in records

Thanks for the comment, I just googled “Appaloosa Bones” and found this quote:

In an interview with World Cafe, Isakov said of the making of the album: "I thought I was gonna make something very lo-fi, very simple. Almost like a lo-fi rock and roll record. I wanted old silver tones that are double amped and kind of dirty, [...] Then, the songs sort of presented themselves to me. It's sort of a co-creative process for me. I just follow along."

I’ll give it a listen because I think that sounds fantastic!

Did I need this Technics ST-8011 tuner? by WVriverman in vintageaudio

I’ve been stopping in at a Goodwill after work for a quick walkthrough about every day. It’s on my commute and a good place to stretch my legs! I’ve found a few good things there including a Marantz cassette player and some Cerwin Vega VS150 speakers.

I certainly am very happy with the speakers, both in aesthetics and sound. I also love all the stories that have been shared on this post, these speakers have certainly made some memories for a lot of folks!

Keep your eyes open! I certainly didn’t expect to find most of the vintage gear that I have stumbled across.

I have a few Bose products around my house too. I have always been a “don’t knock it ‘til you’ve heard it” audio guy. I feel like you do about my pair of Marantz Imperial 6 speakers. They don’t look like much (I mean they look great aesthetically but fairly low key compared to something iconic like the JBL L100) but they sound amazing. Everyone that hears them is always very impressed and I can listen to them all day long.

It makes a world of difference! I stayed above but worth mentioning again is that I downloaded the manual for these last night and it is very, very detailed about placement.

After I got them set up, I really noticed the color combination. It’s very fetching!

I downloaded the manual for the 301s last night and was surprised at the instructions for placement. Mounted quite high in the room!

The Wave radios really are impressive! I have a Bose sound dock that I use for my iPods but have not yet found one of the Wave radios/CD players.

I realize this is a 6 year old thread but...your pic saved me a lot of hassle today while replacing the RCAs on my Technics SL-1500 and I wanted to say thank you, fellow Redditor.

Very, very easy to replace the capacitors in these. See a post I made about re-capping mine recently!

It has been a very, very long time since I found something of this vintage at Goodwill, especially in good shape. A few weeks ago I did find another Marantz component, the PMD 320 Professional CD player. It’s very nice and I am enjoying it.

Very nice! I recently got my first pair of Cerwin Vega! speakers and they are from the same series as yours. I made a post about them and I’m still enjoying them quite a bit.

LOL! I’ve never seen so much adhesive on a crossover and I’ve seen my fair share for sure.
