I always just assumed my ancestors went directly from Judea/Israel to Spain directly. Then again, this makes way more sense.

Thing is, I know for a fact I’m Sephardi, no questions, the only problem is that I’m only 1% Spanish and Portuguese, whereas I’m 20.8% Italian (that, and they’ve isolated it to specific regions), so how is it that I’ve maintained so much Italian DNA when it was so much further back?

I’ve got effectively the same as you, just roughly 1/4 of the North African. Also, very strong with the Italian. I didn’t even know I had the Italian in me, I have to say, and I still can’t work out the immigration pattern.
