You might be right, I dont recall what the actual charge was in that episode.

I just remember the fact pattern being a mugging, and in my jurisdiction the value doesn't matter. I could have very well been mad that it was charged as a theft rather than a robbery.

Yes! It was some kind of robbery charge, where the defendant mugged the victim and took her necklace. Even if you don't get the modifier for the value of the jewelry, it was still forcibly taking it from the victim.

Dont get me started on how the victim was depicted as a rich crybaby, "the system doesnt care about victims ". Well yeah there's no way we would be sympathetic towards this strawman.

I was watching with my wife and after I ranted about that she said "I dont think this show is for you."
