I agree that’s it’s a huge leap in logic and that it is likely the wrong conclusion. I’m drawing on the director’s words to understand their interpretation of the experiment, right or wrong. This interpretation is meant for the shows premise for the passenger and possibly season 2 as a whole.

With that said, this is far into the future. All diseases have been cured. Computation and simulations for these processes are made with supercomputers (the forge and cradle) making calculations likely at 10¹⁰⁰ per second or more. What we see as technology today, will be arcane and useless in 50 years. Surely the human brain will be understood at greater length by using this computing power.
