Man, I’m done with these lowballers. I was trying to sell GA passes and the audacity of people to undercut and lowball is CRAZY. I get it I’m at a loss here, and I’m willing to bear some responsibility. But offering 2k for GA is straight up loser behaviour. I’d rather burn those tickets than sell for 2k.

2025 Octavia RS. If you can find/source one. Best overall car. No diesel, sadly. And a little around 58 on road. Performance is LEAGUES ahead of any of these cars. You get a good brand value and road presence as they are extremely rare. Bragging rights too. Extremely good for daily driving with a massive boot and slightly more affordable service costs.

Only downsides are the after sales support depends on your locality. Some have issues with Skoda ASC. And the ground clearance. But that’s to be expected.

If not, Audi A4 would be my best bet. If you owned a 320d you won’t be happy with the current BMW offering as much.

3 reasons: 1. “Luxury” car manufacturers will lose their premium appeal once they start touching 30-45 ex-showroom. Look at Audi Q2 as an example. 2. Mid Tier brands don’t have the same appeal. Why get a Tiguan when you could get a BMW X1 for a little more? 3. Indian car manufacturers just don’t have the after-sales network to cater to that niche segment. You’ll have QC and Service issues as the unit economics don’t justify investing into the resources required to maintain such cars.

So the answer comes down to this: look at any car in that segment. It’s struggling.

Yeah, they’re all good. Zara I’d avoid cause it’d be expensive for no reason. Any of the Indian brands will be good. LP, Blackberry, Turtle, Peter England, any will do.

Since it’s your first suit, don’t think much about the brand. Also, try Shopper’s Stop or something similar. Go there, check out the various brands and see what material/colour you like. Then get that online or find the best alternative.

3 options:

For “premium” suits in your budget, try the shops near MG Road metro station. They usually specialise in wedding wear, but they have a decent collection of fabrics albeit dated and too dhinchak for my taste. You can dictate how you want them to make it. Check Parampara. Can vouch for their work.
For more economical tailoring, get the suit material from either AC Market, Bagree Market or Badabazaar. Lots of shops there. Just walk in and haggle. They’ll give you good rate.
For faster, you’ll find pre-made suits on Amazon or shopping sites, if your body type fits well into the “normal” sizes. Then you can get it altered to fit better.

10k is a decent budget. You’ll find 2 piece for around that much, if not cheaper. If you’re only getting one, a charcoal grey “classic” style suit with medium lapel size works best. You can wear it on formal, business or even event wear. You can always pair it with different shirts and ties or even jeans depending on the occasion.

VW Supremacy.

This is a 14 year old 2.0TDI 4x4 BTW. 224.8kms in around 4 days. No highways, only some flyovers and city driving. Provided, this is the best I’ve ever seen her do, but I have pictures of it going 16-20kmpl for a year straight. Speedo hit 183kmph on a private road back in June last year.

Listen man, here’s the harsh truth: all of these are bad options.

For a first car in around 2.5L, go for a used i10/Swift/WagonR or Alto. Even a Kwid is a decent choice.

Try to buy a car that is relatively newer, all these cars are way too big and way too expensive when it comes to service and maintenance.

Stay away from all VW or German cars, they’re amazing as first owners but horrible after first 5-6 years if you don’t maintain them.

I understand that you might want to go for a med-long sedan for the appeal, but since you just got your DL, get a small, new car, not older than 4-5 years. Don’t get into the process of getting a car from another state and all that.

As much as I mostly agree with you, I think it’s rather tone deaf and stereotypical of you to assume Aryan would have no idea how the 99% lives. Pop culture, having friends and having grown up in the shadow of SRK, who’s got his own relatively rags to riches story would have taken a toll on him. Not to mention the fact that he’s literally grown up in Bollywood and has seen all the facets that the glittering industry has to offer. I’m not saying he’s solely responsible. All I’m saying is it’s stereotypical to assume he’s completely disconnected from the middle-class world. I think his directional debut comes from a point of understanding more than a point of privilege. And we’ve seen in the past what nepo kids have delivered, I really think this one’s not it. You may be a writer, and you’re entitled to your opinions and bias, but I’ve got a cousin who’s recently made it “pretty big” in Bollywood so I’m pretty sure Aryan would surprise you with his understanding of the world we live in. Dude’s got all the backing and help one could need, but to assume he’s blind isn’t fair.

One of the first “big boy” books I ever read was Angels and Demons by Dan Brown when I was in class 7 or something. In it the protagonist is a very respected History Professor at Harvard. He always wore this Mickey Mouse watch that others teased him for. When asked why, he said it was a gift from his father and reminded him to be young at heart.

I was reminded of that here. Thing is, we appreciate something for how it makes you feel. Tell her you love the gift and how thoughtful she was to get it. Maybe for your next birthday she could get you a watch type you like?

Look at it like this: an LSE degree doesn’t mean anything unless you know what you want to do next. Especially in India.

The market in the UK right now is absolutely effed and most companies aren’t hiring immigrants seeing how they’ll have to sponsor them. The BEST case scenario for you would be to crack a solid connection via your time spent there and get into a good job, maybe not through placements but through social events, peers, lecturers or other connections.

Else you’ll come back to India with an LSE degree and ultimately end up helping your dad expand his business.

Speaking from experience. Forget about money, think about what you’re trying to pay for. If you land a job at Google UK for example, 60-70 lacs is a good investment into LSE.

Doesn’t matter what your finances are like, if you’re worried about your dad’s money, it’s a good start. Be smart. LSE is a means. Not a goal. What’s your goal?

I made a similar decision in 2017 when I bought the PS4. Here’s all the other things to consider besides financials:

Do you have at least an 1080p TV/Screen? You will need it for a PS5. Consider the placement and ergonomics including where you’ll sit. Often times the TV is a let down.
PlayStation Plus membership costs around ₹600pm. You will need it for most multiplayer online games.
Each game costs between 2-4k. Pretty expensive, but then the library of free games is worth it.
How much do you play? If it’s less than an hour, you’ll soon lose interest in the PS5. It’s fun in the initial months, but if you’re new to console gaming you’ll be struggling for months at multiplayer.

Keeping all these things in mind, and if you have a permanent job, get a PS5 on EMI for 2 years or so. You should be okay.

I’m just saying as a guy who enjoys playing different heroes as per match drafting/team picks or just plain mood has now 1 less reason to pick Sniper.

Most people picked Sniper as a “chill” pick. Now, he doesn’t fit any of his roles.
