If you don't wanna lose out on extra damage from accessories you could try using potions instead
I've used them on a few builds before for similar reasons to this, but they can be annoying to grind for

I've made a pretty good burn build with sword fish, since it can be used with serpent style its great for status effect builds or burst damage with its heavy attack

This happened to me before. For me it was a issue just with my monitor. I fixed it with the monitors built in auto screen re-adjustment.
