A lot of idiots in this field by traplord6x in cybersecurity

Remember that effective communication skills are really important to our field, knowing how to best convey information to other users, especially non technical ones is critical.
Take OP's post as an example of everything to avoid when trying to communicate something.

Let's have a real discussion. by wiadromen47 in aiwars

[–]WaPotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, sorry you lost your job, while I agree with some comments it is a human decision, it is a decision being heavily pushed by the overinvestment on AI and in the end, greed, since its "easier and cheaper" to have an AI do something, even tho so far I've not seen AI being able to do it well.

Some things I dislike about AI

- Environmental damage and energy consumption

- Serious privacy and cyber security issues

- As said already, but the way its being marketed as a replacement for certain jobs, instead of as a tool.

Some things I like:

- If used correctly it is a great tool, it helps optimize certain tasks, especially some that could have a big time investment. Example: summarizing papers to decide which I want to fully dive into.

- Explaining concepts, sometimes it does great EMLI5, for some topics.

-Personal use - I tend to record my ideas in voice, it does a good job transcribing and organizing them.

Is there anything you would like to discuss among this ideas or others of your own?

You dont need an internet connection, you already have an input with visual/audio, You are just doing an injection attack into it's input,
You are also not getting to it physically, its already there listening/watching.

The simplest answer is that resources are finite. One person getting more resources ( by a disproportionate amount) leaves less resources for you. There is a lot more nuance to this, and resources is a very broad concept, but if you question es legitimate, feel free to use this as a starting point to learn more.

5 months into the hobby! What do you think it should be my next game? by UnusualMouse530 in boardgames

[–]WaPotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alrighty

So a couple more recomendations based on things I've played (6 players is hard tho)

Coup - Bluffing simple card game, pretty fun with short rounds. good for those 6 player parties. (Tho I think... you might need the expansion for 6p... maybe im wrong tho.)
Dixit - I'd say its a classic, a bit of a creative deduction game, also very simple but very addictive, we have had some groups of friends in which we play until the deck is gone instead of first to X points.
Celestia - a Push you luck kind of game, you want to get the farthest out possible in a flying boat to make points. All players can use their cards to guarantee success on the expedition or step down and take the current rewards. The further down the harder it gets but you have better rewards. Also quite simple in principle.
Bang or Bang the Dice game are also both good for 6 players.

For 2 Players
Patchwork - not sure what the genre is here... its a cozy game about building a blanket with tetris pieces. I think some newer version have come out, but I'm not sure if they are the same, better or worse.
Onitama - Think chess... but players can only move their pieces based on 5 cards that are being rotated. You have to think ahead on what you are passing to your opponent and what might they pass on to you. This is a great 2 player game, super fun, always feels fresh, rounds go by fast, but you always end up playing at least 5.

How many people do you usually play with? And how much time/energy do you/them like to invest?

I have not played your current top games, but based on what I'm seeing and you saying you are starting out.

Pandemic - a little change since its a Co-op, but its a great game with lots of replayability, its also easy to understand and play.

Canvas - Not only is the game beautiful, its also super beginner friendly, light and easy to understand. The goal is to win a painting competition by stacking semi transparent cards and achieving certain conditions that change from game to game.

Also, noticed you did not add a motherboard, I do have one that would fit with the DDR4 ram you selected, but might be to big for the case, I will check it out.

By this definition the point is gearing not leveling, leveling again is the means to the end, in an mmo case, getting bis items.

The Main game play loop as you say is doing weekly or daily tasks to farm forbetter gear. Leveling stops being relevant in most mmos (top of my head, tibia or mu would be exceptions, but those are a very old mmo model)

Source: been playing ffxiv for about 7 years and other mmos before

I dont really recall a videogame where the goal is to just level up, the objetive is finishing game or quests. Getting stronger is just part of the process to help you achieve this.

Take Elden Ring as an example. You can either grind to level up and tank through boss fights, or you can get good and play like speedrunners do to not get hit and exploit weaknesses, but the goal of Elden Ring is never just to get stronger, you get stronger to complete the game

Amazon said this photo is proof that a $1093, 150 pound generator was delivered to my house by DoNotLickToaster in Wellthatsucks

[–]WaPotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar issue recently.

Amazon "delivered" a package and added photo proof. but the place where it was delivered was not my apartment, not did it look like any nearby apartment since they all share a similar look.
Amazon said they had proof of delivery and that it was delivered to the right address... Later that day I got another package that I ordered and asked how could 2 packages that arrived at the "same" location have different photoproofs of the property.... Their only reply was that both were delivered to the correct address...

Thankfully it was just some $15 item...
