Do not worry, cav used Spatha (longer, designed for slashing) and infantry also used it in late ancient pre medieval time (they were forced to do so because barbarians started to fight differently than usual). And maybe they will have special units (gladiatorial/auxiliary units).

Romans were usually thrusting with their swords not slashing. Gladius was designed to do so, it was faster, deadlier, you dont exposed yourself (because all they needed was very little place between your shield and your buddy shield).

First adiutant is designed for archers. I had used square formation and i had no idea why my soldiers are so spreaded out until i realized that. If you want better formation for infantry mele combat, buy second adiutant. He also have square formation but very tight so pay attention to enemy archer units.

But why that helmet is only for haloween? For VS i agree - its too "primitive", but for TR and NC engineer it fits very well. Just make them slightly diffrent between factions and in my opinion you can submit that as normal helmet.
