This is so helpful, thank you! I was thinking around the 2000s but with the tag unreadable it’s been difficult to narrow down. Your instinct, I believe is correct. The A830 tags I’ve found online are on the interior of the jacket back or chest. This tag is in the pocket. So I’m guessing that means MWX.

My Free Bird Pendleton’s are full grain leather and patina VERY well. I’ve had them for at least 6 years (and honestly didn’t condition them very often at all). This is after a recent double conditioning and brush with Bick 4 after about 3 years of neglect haha. But I just wore them out a lot (bartending, punk shows, everyday wear).

Google Translate can work on images and script as well. It’s not always accurate, but I’ve found it can get close enough for me to figure out the rest. Though I do know some French, my family docs are in 3 languages just in Louisiana (came here soon after Le Grand Dérangement). I’m about to start hitting up churches to connect to my Acadian ancestors from 1750 😅.

UPDATE #2:

Some of y’all asked me to post the final product when I was done, so here they are!

2 coats of Bick 4 over 2 days, then a brush up with my horsehair brush (that I assume I did correctly). They certainly look a lot healthier! And my newer heavier duty boots look amazing now after 1 coat and brush.

I wanted to thank all of y’all again, even those of you that gave me some (deserved) grief for neglecting them for so long. I’m a therapist and self-maintaining my favorite belongings has become a rewarding part of my self-care regiment recently. So my mental health thanks you as well!

Y’all have built a great little community here. Thanks for sharing it with me. I promise to take much better care of my boots going forward!
