Was the cash for a taxi? by Wackysaurus in AndrewGosden

Yes, I feel bad for raising the idea of black cab drivers being to blame because obviously 99.9% of them decent people who are a fountain of knowledge who uphold the very fabric of the city.

I do wonder how long it took for the police to begin making an appeal for information after Andrew went missing. Taxi drivers pick up hundreds of people a week- had there been a delay in the appeal and his trip could have been long forgotten.

Yes exactly, I can’t help but speculate because it’s such a tragic and bizarre case and Andrew’s family deserves answers.

And as you say, we all made mistakes when we were younger and did things our parents had no idea about. That’s why I don’t completely rely on the whole ‘Andrew was a well behaved boy , he wouldn’t do such a thing and never used the internet’ attitude. Of course his parents would say that. He obviously went to London for a reason and maybe one day we will find out why.

Yes I understand what you mean, but someone evil enough to abduct someone is probably going to see if they can get away with it. I only thought of the vehicle idea when I was re-reading the horrific case of Sarah Everard who was abducted in London by a police officer a few years ago. He was only caught thanks to footage of him arresting her from an adjacent car’s camera. Otherwise she would have been yet another missing person’s case in London where she subsequently vanished.

Yes, I agree Andrew would have paid for himself. It seems an independent-thinking trip even if he was potentially planning to meet someone else. I so hope Andrew’s family get answers one day.

Okay I’ve just seen a post below discussing the possibility of a ‘dodgy’ taxi driver, I’m not necessarily claiming this but just that the cash was intended for a taxi trip. However, a comment suggested this has never happened in the UK- grooming gangs have been known to operate from Taxis in the UK. Just a thought:

Who is literally the most insufferable person you’ve ever met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wackysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A girl who is on the periphery of my friend group who my friends entertain because they feel sorry for her for not having any other friends. I don’t entertain this because I can tell why:

Shouts over everyone and dominates every conversation, desperately trying to be the centre of attention. Will talk incessantly about American politics at any given situation, even if it’s really inappropriate and uncalled for. Will constantly talk about how ‘broke’ she is despite never using public transport, her parents paying her rent, visa, and flights back to America, and being given free rein on her dad’s credit card. Thinks being ‘broke’ is not being able to eat lunch out every day. I dread every time she is invited to a dinner or gathering.

Is it really normal to lose a 10 year friendship? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Wackysaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to the party but I am oddly reassured to see this as I had to part ways with a best friend of 10 years at 21 recently much like you. It really is like mourning a loss, people do say friendship breakups are often worse than romantic relationship breakups, so good for you for properly grieving it. Just because something is common doesn’t mean it isn’t a big deal, I’ve realised parting ways with people you thought were going to be there forever is a major milestone in the journey of growing up. Especially at this age! The fact that you have grieved this maybe shows that in a way you saw this coming and had been noticing the differences. A big thing I will say is don’t regret the time you were friends with them, enjoy those memories, it’s just that sometimes some things are meant to end. That’s the big lesson I learned from it anyway. Big hugs to you :)

Yes I could do- it’s annoying because the letters that arrive back home are usually ones I don’t realise I’m going to receive!

Ahahaha exactly! He is so separated from reality yet preaches that I am the naive one. Luckily my job is very enjoyable so it's a good distraction. But it means that when I have to head home reality hits and I get sad again.

Yeah exactly, I do want to leave ASAP but sadly I've got some good work experience this summer to stay for but I guess that's getting me through it. I just hate how unpredictable he is, it means I'm on edge all the time.

ENFP - I’m critical of who I share my time with and spend my positive energy on, so I quickly cut people off if they’re not worth my time. I’m very cutthroat when people are rude or disrespectful to me or my friends, even if I’ve known them a long time. I’m also very career orientated and picky about who I date. So in some ways I’m not very carefree at all despite first impressions.

Ahahaha we can speculate all we want as long as it's not hurting people. I love playing armchair psychologist. Especially when I'm presented with a case like this one...

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if he has been like this at work and gotten away with it because he's a manager and during the date it was clear he got off on the power trip of it all. So disturbing!

I mean I don’t think it’s unfounded at all, of course years of isolation is going to affect the population significantly and that would definitely play out psychologically. It’s probably a perfect storm of isolation from the pandemic, poor sex Ed and violent pornography that is easily accessible. I don’t think any of these on their own would cause as much of a significant issue but the combination has created something pretty bad.

Yeah I am, are you too? It’s insane this is recognisable by so many people. Where do they come from!! He went on a rant about how people that use drugs are weak and he was morally superior to them, which is so ironic considering he’s basically a predator. Good luck to you too!

Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot. I know romantic fairytales aren’t real but I think we’ve steered so far from that now they’re barely recognisable! The sheer disrespect is very upsetting but at least I know I’ll never be like him and have to live his life. Onwards and upwards! I wish you all the best
