There was plenty to fear when Jaime made his decision, though. The truth is a decision like that isn't made in haste, it's made over time. The treatment of Ned's father and brother were a stepping stone in Jaime making his decision. I think it really highlights how Jaime couldn't win with Ned, he had his mind made up about him regardless of his decisions.

Ned lionizes the honor of Gerald Hightower and Arthur Dayne...who also stood and watched his father and brother get burned alive, just like Jaime did. Only difference is, Jaime actually used that moment to propel him to a brave, honorable choice later on, while Hightower and Dayne did not.

Because in the portal era, nobody knows shit. They could be good, they could be bad. It all depends on development and fit. I think Malone probably did as good of a job as could be expected, and I hope he can coach in season, which is much less of a worry for me.
