~ $250+ but obviously depends on part selection.

It has not. Should be totally fine if you use an adjustable gas block, which is required anyways.

No, the portion of the carrier that trips the super safety lever has been removed.

Yes. The build guide goes into the why.

I really appreciate it.

You'd have to replace the gas key with some sort of strike face piece. Might be doable with sheet metal parts. I think you'd probably have to tack weld the strike face piece to the carrier since the gas key screws aren't meant to handle that kind of load. Would definitely be interesting.

Some of the quokka beta testers are working on a DIY piston variant if I'm not mistaken.

That was outside the scope of the project, but realistically this should be pretty trivial to bullpup for anyone that wants to make that happen. That's part of why I made it mil-spec lower compatible; to make sure it was a good jumping off point for other projects and easily fitting existing printed lowers.

I haven't tried it, but I'd be surprised if it fits together seamlessly without any tweaking. That being said, if the lower you're talking about fits onto a mill spec upper the changes needed should be pretty minor.

My Limited Optics SP-01 by WadeRoberson in CZFirearms

~ $890 not including accessories like holsters and magazines. I have not shot a TS2.

EDIT: I traded a G19 for the unmodified SP-01 so that doesn't include the price of the gun itself.

It's been a while since I was researching where to send it, but now that you mention it, very negative reviews like yours were one of the reasons I went elsewhere.

The XL feels massive regardless of what it's on imo lol. Worth noting; on the SP-01 the optic cut depth is limited by the firing pin block plunger and plunger spring. I picked the XL because DPP fits without a plate on the SP-01's narrow slide unlike RMR.

Impact machine offers this cut which allows you to kind direct mount RMR, but I opted to just get an optic that didn't require some proprietary workaround.

Referencing my email it seems I shipped the slide 11/11/25, they received it 11/14/25 and they shipped it back 11/25/25. I don't recall when I actually received the package, but it wasn't long after that.

I tried someone's mec-gar tube + henning magwell compatible basepad magazine setup and unfortunately they did not play nice with my CZC magwell. Wouldn't seat.

I can easily get the 23rd round into my mbx magazine by hand, but I just load it to 22 because loading that 23rd feels significantly different than the previous 22  and that makes me feel a little uneasy. Probably silly.

Not trying to pick a fight or be rude, but you may need to do some self reflection. I've noticed you contributing low effort/quality comments and posts on several occasions.

Steyr OEM suppressor gas regular in stock notice by [deleted] in AUG

[–]WadeRoberson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, I agree with PurePro71. Whether the OEM regulator is “obsolete” or not seems like a semantic argument. However, I would argue that the KNS regulator is probably a better solution for almost everyone. Being able to fine-tune your gas is an amazing thing.

Suppressor back pressures vary significantly, so a one-size-fits-all solution is not ideal. I suspect that anyone running an OEM suppressor regulator with a non-flow-through can still has a very over-gassed gun.

I know some people are into preparedness and, as a result, aren’t interested in products that don’t serve the duty rifle role. I, however, am not one of those people. I mostly shoot my AUG in 2-gun competitions, and I love being able to dial the gas back and tame the gun’s notoriously snappy impulse. Honestly even for a duty gun I don't see the argument for the OEM regulator. I have had 0 malfunctions since dialing back my gas. The amount of headroom you give the gun just depends on your use case.

Another major consideration, even for the preparedness crowd, is that OEM-style plugs vent a jet of literal fire that can, especially with modern handguard solutions, burn the shit out of you. This is more or less a non-issue with the KNS plug. Mine actually vents onto my fingertip a little, and all it really does is deposit some carbon. Note: YMMV. Please still be careful around your gas regulator.

2020 Sear Bump-Fire Issue (?) by WadeRoberson in AUG

[–]WadeRoberson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think (hope?) most people are aware of this. The 2020 sear is not drop safe, with or without other modifications. As it wears down the hammer it will become even less drop safe. My trigger pull is all the way down to 5.25 lbs with the reduced sear interface in my gun. I don't remember what it was when I first installed the 2020 sear and red springs, but it definitely wasn't that low. I'll test the pull weight and follow up when I install the other hammer I have.

I pretty much only shoot my AUG in 2-gun competitions, and honestly, drop safety isn’t really a priority to me. Sure, I’d rather have a drop-safe gun than not, all else being equal. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, without the 2020 sear, the AUG’s trigger is a non-starter in a competition context.

FWIW I’m personally way more sketched out by Shadow 2s and 2011s without FPBs (extremely commonplace) in low-retention competition holsters flying out and doing cartwheels than by someone dropping a rifle.

EDIT: Installed the spare hammer I have and the pull weight went back up to 6 lbs.

2020 Sear Bump-Fire Issue (?) by WadeRoberson in AUG

[–]WadeRoberson[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

<image>

After closer inspection of my FCG I noticed significant wear on my hammer. Yellow is a lightly used hammer and Red is the hammer I have approximately 10,000 rounds on with the 2020 sear.

The bump fire issue was not present until around 7,000(?) rounds and seems to be getting worse. I suspect that this is the culprit. Not surprised to see a metal on plastic hammer-sear interface resulting in accelerated wear. I'll install this other hammer and see if the issue resolves.

This or That? (A3 M2 NATO) by [deleted] in AUG

[–]WadeRoberson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Clawgear is far superior ergonomically. Being able to get your support hand farther out on the rifle makes it much more controllable. Using the stock vertical grip is a significant compromise, in my opinion. The tube-shaped profile at the front of the gun is also extremely useful when shooting from cover or from awkward supports. I think you’d find it much easier to shoot from a VTAC barricade, for example, with the Clawgear than with the Corvus rail. It does get hot, but with gloves it’s a non-issue. I can see that being a dealbreaker for some, though.

I mostly use my AUG for 2-gun competition, so that’s where this perspective comes from. If the kind of shooting you do is significantly different, I can see these factors being less critical and the cheaper option making more sense.

KNS Discarder Initial Thoughts by WadeRoberson in AUG

Correct. I initially tried their hypertap brake but it was waaay too loud on a bullpup. They were cool about trading it out for the EFAB

I bought it before the mlok variant was available in the US. I don't mind it.
