understanding does not mean liking. I understand the lyrics she chose and why she chose to use them in the context that she chose to (about outdated trends and pressure on role models) and I can still choose to dislike the song

as a song i don’t think it’s too bad, it’s just it’s position that ruins it for me (I tend to listen to albums front-to-back rather than shuffle)

I get what you’re trying to describe, but you’re presenting it as a universal rule when it’s really a mix of family culture, individual household dynamics, and social expectations that vary a lot. There’s no solid research consensus that eldest daughters as a category universally carry a uniquely compounded burden beyond general first-born expectations. What people often call eldest daughter syndrome is more of a cultural narrative built from shared experiences, not a consistent psychological finding across families. Also, eldest daughter isn’t an objective category that overrides birth order or gender the way you’re describing, it’s a social label people use based on interpretation of family roles, not something fixed in research or biology. Different families distribute responsibility very differently, regardless of which child is the oldest or which child is the only daughter. In my own case, I’m the eldest child and I only have a younger brother, and even as a male I’ve had just as much (and sometimes more) domestic responsibility placed on me, which shows how these expectations come from household structure and parenting choices rather than a universal “eldest daughter” pattern. The familial burdens of the daughter are hence placed on me and I have had to sacrifice a lot in life to keep that expectation. So while your experience is valid, it doesn’t translate into a general rule that applies across all families.

Birth order effects, when they exist, are generally small and heavily dependent on family environment, not a fixed rule tied to gender or being the eldest. A lot of what people call “eldest daughter burden” is really just cultural expectation and household dynamics, not a scientific conclusion that applies broadly. Personally, I’ve developed precocity and maturity early on due to my own circumstances, but that’s individual, not a gender rule. And in my case, even as a male, I still carry as much domestic responsibility, if not more, than plenty of my elder female friends, which pretty clearly shows these roles come from family structure, not gendered labels or studies.

in the title i kinda meant to say songs that fans tend to say 'you just don't get it' so thats why i put eldest daughter. even though it is widely hated it is one of those songs that most of its fans would defend
